RE: Art Talk: Emotion In Bronze

in #arttalk6 years ago

I'm writing you with tears in my eyes. I've been to Paris, I've seen all these statues at Rodin's house, took a lot of photos and lost them all!!! So I guess I don't have to describe what I'm feeling now. Have managed to get over it but every time I see photos like these, memories come back and I'm sad.
Anyway, on a positive side, I'm happy to see these amazing artworks again! I have a great respect for Rodin, he was not only an amazing artist but a great man as well. I've read the book called "Naked Came I" by David Weiss, an amazing book by the way!

Special Note: Sculpture has a special place in my life as I grew up with an artist father that made bronzes and owned his own foundry. Some days when I was out sandblasting the bronzes I wished I had a father that just went to an office. Now I appreciate the unique opportunity I had, growing up with beautiful bronzes all around me and seeing the process too.

Life is better understood backward but it is lived on-wards. You're lucky to grow up with an artist father, although, as you say, as a child it's not always easy to understand that. Rodin had neglected his wife and mistress as well :) They had suffered because Rodin had not paid attention to them and Rodin had suffered because the society had not paid attention to him and his work :)

@erikah thank you so much for your comment. I am so happy that I could share the Rodin pieces with you. I agree a truly amazing artist. I am going to read Naked Came I. Thank you for the suggestion. I looked at your profile. First, thanks for the resteem. 2nd It is so great to see your art! I hope we have more interactions through this series. I am going to do some whole posts on Rodin coming up!

You're very kind, but I wouldn't say my drawings are art. I'm just learning and am very enthusiastic :) Can't wait to see your other posts, especially about Rodin! I'm happy to hear you're planning to read the book. I'm going to read it again, it's great!
