that we created for Burning Man festival in 2016.
The process of creation of this piece was pretty intense,
pushing us multiple times beyond our limits,
but it was a deeply rewarding achievement!
I designed two walls, and helped with designing side pieces with dragons. Steven Eye came out with a general design of the whole structure, he created one wall with the entrance and the piece on the top. Our other helpers: Joey Rhude, John Macaque Thierry, Austin Coller, Dave Mason and Opal Archer.
We were running a bit late finishing putting it all together, then taking it down, getting it ready for transportation. With our van we were pulling a big trailer, and our friends were pulling another one with their truck. We are finally on the road, I am looking into a side mirror,
and I am saying:
"It would be nice to have much bigger mirrors for a better visibillity"
Before we even got into Phoenix from Tucson we stopped on the way in the rest area in Casa Grande. Cloud of smoke came out of our engine, and transmission fluid leaked out.
Our van was toasted!
For a while, we were thinking that we are done, that after all this hard work we will have to go back home. With all our expenses of going there and building this art offering for the playa, we weren't thinking that we can afford to rent a truck, but we did it anyways through our friend.
We unpacked all of our stuff, and towing company took our van back to Tucson. People from Uhaul company are usually not answering phone after 5, and it was 5:05pm, and they did!
Few hours later we are back on the road in a truck with a powerful engine, and nice big side mirrors!!;-))
We arrived in Black Rock City on Tuesday afternoon, and the temple was up by the next Sunrise. Until then it was a lot of hard team work, and often during the dust storms, but when we were done, our spirits were lifted up!
We got placed in a very prime spot - in between the main temple and the man. The following days were densely packed with magical experiences. Besides exploring all the art, connecting with people, I love to dance on the playa until the Sun rises.
It was great to see the temple against this vast surreal landscape, and getting activated by people interacting with it. Couples were getting married in front of it, we heard someone made love inside, people were using it as a shelter from dust storms or intense heat.
Inside of the temple, an altar was built, and people were leaving their marks on the walls.
One day someone left there for some time metal staff with entwined winged serpents. It was a pretty epic moment to be captured with it in front of our piece, especially reflecting on my ancient memories that seemed to be coming to life in the present moment!;)
We are creating and holding the sacred space,
riding the wave of magic!;)
beautiful
