It's more than a law. The right to bear arms is in the Constitution so a constitutional amendment would be needed to end that right, which will never happen. That being said, despite what some libertarians and conservatives here in the US would say, regulating guns much more strictly doesn't violate the Constitution. It's a right but not an absolute right even over here.

They don’t need to change the constitution. Just the law with regards to how you acquire a weapon. A child should not be able to get his hands on a weapon.
