Back in the days of art school, I drew this portrait of Keith Moon (of The Who) from an insert in an album by the band. This piece was a class assignment – the professor was a huge fan of the group and brought in three albums, all with inserts, and told us to pick a cover or one of the inserts to recreate, using the medium of oil or chalk pastels – I went with chalk pastels and chose this Keith Moon portrait to recreate. It really brought out some of my best skills as an artist, I believe.

Wonderful. I wish I knew how to draw.
I wish I knew how to draw as well as rock out LOL
Thank you.
If you really want to learn to draw, there are lots of books and videos out there to help you learn. At the least, you might find a relaxing hobby in it for yourself. There’s something seriously destressing to immerse yourself in the all-consuming focus of creating a visual arts piece. Don’t get me wrong… I love digital art – but computer generated artworks just don’t seem to take you out of the stresses of life the way taking canvas and medium in hand does. There’s something almost primal about it.
