There was a three year old girl who was asked what she would love her mom to paint on her wall. The answer was easy: "Jellyfish! Mummy, daddy and a child!" That´s the project I´ve been occupied within the last 2,5 weeks. So every minute that I wasn´t working and not playing with the child, I painted her wall. Of course only when she wasn´t asleep, because it was the same room (so I had to carve in the evenings instead :P ).
☙
☙
It started with a light blue area, where the painting should take place. Then I drew a rough design on paper to figure out how to position the different parts.
☙
☙
Then I started drawing the design on the wall with a pencil. As we had so much wall paint leftovers from renovating, I used that for the white parts. It´s not the first time I painted on ingrain wallpaper, but it still sucks. It´s hardly possible to draw a straight thin line. But I accepted the challenge.
☙
☙
After painting the baby jellyfish and starting to shade it with dark blue acrylics, I added the parents. As you can see, I asked my daughter for help, since I wanted also her to have fun with that painting. So there´re some special sea animals too :)
☙
☙
I added more and more shades and the background. Note to myself: Next time I´m going to paint the darker background first. It´s not so easy to paint around thin white lines. But it works ;)
☙
☙
☙
In the end I wanted to involve my daughter again and I used a sponge and paint to press some bubbles against the wall.
☙
☙
Here you can see the final result - for the moment. I hope she´s not into horses in three weeks...

Aaawww.. the jellyfishes are beautiful @patschwork! I can see mommy and daddy caring and protecting their little girl there. I love the dark blue against the light blue wall. And it is so fun for your daughter to be able to participate in the art :)

What a beautiful mural painting, patschwork. It is such a happy one too, I bet it would cheer up anyone when they see it whenever they pass by. Such a sweet family moment that you worked together with your daughter. Very lovely <3.
Thank you so much, @scrawly. Yeah, it was a nice moment, then she started to paint the white wall around :D But yes, we had fun haha

"I hope she´s not into horses in three weeks"
She might be. Does she know about seahorses? :)
I can't help but feel some admiration for anyone who's into sea-life being a huge fan myself. Beautiful drawing!
Thank you so much, @eccles. Great to hear, that you love the underwater world too. Maybe you also like this old post of mine: https://steemit.com/photography/@patschwork/jellyfish-creatures-from-the-stars
I did enjoy it, thank you
On a slightly different note, I'd just like to express my appreciation for your use of light and texture in your your work -- can't quite describe how I feel about the darker scenes, but... It's like wanting to take in every little detail, to sense the place.
I'm able to appreciate both simple drawings and complex ones, but I have a special place in my heart for surreal scenes that feel like something physical from a different reality.
I don't even know what this clumsy attempt at praise achieved, but hopefully it conveys:
Your work is very nice, I like it :)
Thank you so much, @eccles. That's what I love to do most: scenes from another reality. I'm glad you also like these pieces of mine.

There's nothing more important than giving your child what she/he would like and doing it together is going to strengthen the bond between you two. She's going to remember this for the rest of her life. The painting is wonderful, and the shades of blue has a mentally calming effect. She;s lucky to have you and vice versa! Congratulations!
Thank you so much, dear @erikah. Yes I hope she likes it for a long time (since the taste of a three year old changes quite often). And I hope it calms her down a bit, she's a bundle of energy :) ♥
Better to be energic then sick, that's what we always say ;) If she changed her mind and you have to paint something else on her wall, at least we get to see another great artwork from your 😀
wow a baby jellyfish family painting in the wall of the room? This is totally different I haven't seen before done on a room wall.
Truth is I find it very interesting how you managed to perfectly colour everywhere on the deep blue section, I make mistake anytime I try this, but wow this one is totally splendid if you ask me.
I love the beauty and the jellyfish seems some how like a squid from a separate angle. How long did it take you to finish all the process?
It's awesome involving your daughter too.
Thanks a lot, @josediccus! I'm glad you like it :) To fill the darker parks I didn't use so much paint,I used only few spots, then I had to be quick while it was still wet and I used a lot of water on the brush to achieve a smooth gradient.
It took about two and a half weeks when I painted about one or two hours a day. Thanks again!
@patschwork I love the tender drawing you got for your beautiful little girl's room. It looks so nice the color you used. It's so cute to see the big mom and dad jellyfish and the little jellyfish on the side below protected by their parents. What a beautiful present and work of art for your little girl. It is a blessing that her mother paints such a beautiful mural on the wall of the room with her own hands and talent. You are very talented. I liked to see how you did it step by step. I was very pleased that both of you will participate in the painting. Enjoying art with the kids is what's so charming about it. A big greeting.
Thank you so much for your kind comment ♥ It was very important for me that she could take part, at least a little bit, so it´s "hers" too. Big greetings to you back :)
Wonderful jellyfish mural with so much detail! I like that fact you had to work when she wasn't asleep. Will she watched you work too? Will you finish the entire wall?
Thank you :) No, I think that's it (as long as she doesn't complain). And no, she didn't watch me for a long time, for her it was more exciting to play ;)
Wow! This really very amazing @patschwork. Great job! I loved your post. 💙❤
Love, light and peace 💖🌟💖

AMAZING WORK !! Surely your girl was very happy with the beautiful drawing of her mother .. !!
It is a beautiful painting .. The color you used is very good with the background of the wall .. you are a great artist, your drawing has been wonderful, a big hug @patschwork
Thank you so much for your kind words and a big hug back :)
Hi patschwork. It was nice to have an artist mother and your daughter was so lucky. She can have anything to be drawn in her bedroom :). It was a beautiful mural painting. I love the soft color of blue you painted for the jelly fish. Blue is my favorite color. Blue made you calm. Glad that you shared with us the process on how you painted in the wall. The surface much more bigger and you have to use wall paint instead of water color. And the final result was beautiful and your daughter enjoyed the process as well. In future, she would be as talented as her mother:) She very cute.
Thank you so much, @oliviackl. Maybe she's more like her dad and rather makes music, who knows :)
Wow, your husband is a song composer? That's great/ Your girl so lucky, born in a musical and art family. I can imagine, a family full of music and painting :)
If that gave you a great idea your daughter the truth I congratulate you for the great talent you have as with your hands also with the imagination @patschwork the perfect colors the creativity you have is your only friend you dedicated a lot of love to the drawing as your daughter very perfect to please your daughter with the great art that you have done greetings @neymarth10 peace and love
Thank you :)
very nice mural for the children's room ! (i do hope it's not going to be short lived hahaha) love the progress pics and the close ups very much, @patschwork !! gorgeous post <3
Thanks again, dear spider ♥ I always appreciate your support!!
Wow she is one very lucky girl to have a talented mom like you! That really looks awesome. Not only the drawing of the jellyfishes I find amazing, but the way you managed to highlight them with the white in contrast to the blue is so damn cool! By the way, I was wondering does she have such a big room ? Her room looks huge in the first picture :) I am now heading over to your profile to see if you have more of these awesome posts :) Enjoy your Sunday!
Thank you so much, dear @anouk.nox ♥ her room is huge, yes. We just moved into that house and it's the only suitable room for this purpose. And we don't know yet, if there'll be a second one, so they'd have to share it.... :P
Hope you're not disappointed by my other posts, I'm doing mostly dark digital stuff.
Have a great Sunday too!
Super arbeit, tolle farben!
Vielen lieben Dank!
Wowwww.... that came out beautiful!! ♥
I bet your daughter LOVES it!
Well yeah, in the beginning she was excited, but now she got used to it, so it´s just ok for her :P Thanks a lot!
That's the way with kids, haha. Oh well. :D
Haha exactly. Thank God it's not a real pet :D
Hello again ;)
It has been a nice gift that you have done to your daughter, especially that you have allowed her to participate in all of this. It's often difficult for artists to allow others to intervene in their process, but I suppose that in this case you were more than pleased that your daughter was involved in it.
PS: Hopefully in 3 weeks she just think about expanding the painting and that in the best case you just end up doing an underwater scene in the whole room!
Thank you so much, @nelsinho! Yes, it was not easy involving her, especially when she was stroking over my painting, but well... it´s her room, so I got over it. That underwater scene would be great :D
Lol..children and their fantasies. You did a great job despite the challenges about the wallpaper. It turned out right despite all odds and it is beautiful. I love how you used the different shades of blue to achieve the desired effect. I am sure this pretty child is happy with the result. She now has daddy, mummy and baby jellyfish on her wall.
Thank you so much, @cheeka ♥
Wow, this is a beautiful painting on the wall! The girl is very special! I have never heard of a 3 years old child that wanted to have a jellyfish family on her/his wall :) You did a great job and I am sure she loves the painting!
Thank you, @delishtreats! She knows jellyfish from the museum' aquarium and she also knows how excited I am about these creatures... maybe that´s the reason why?
Wonderful idea of decoration, I believe your daughter was excited about those jelly fishes. That is another reason how children make us creative when we want to cheer them up :)
