The third edition of Asean gaming summit hosted at Conrad Manila, Philippines attracted twice as many operators, suppliers, and regulators than the year before. On top of networking and business making aspect, the conference also had an outstanding educational touch which the audience found intriguing. The summit is already known as one of the most important events linking both sides of the industry — comprehending how to promote Asia’s land-based and online gaming casinos using affiliates, social media, and media outlets.
CoinPoint CEO and co-founder Oron Barber joined in as his experience and expertise in the iGaming field spans across both land-based and online casinos, but most importantly, it incorporates another dimension — Blockchain. Online casinos are yet to fully explore the possibilities and benefits that the blockchain puts forward as most of them have vague understanding of the technology, as will be displayed later. Oron was invited to host the panel “Blockchain technology: Changing the market” which he gladly accepted. The panel sparked a great deal of interest having more than 300 people pitching in. The panel involved 4 other blockchain enthusiasts whose knowledge in the subject far exceeded audience’s expectation:
Raul L. Lambino, CEO at CEZA — explained what it takes for a company to obtain a license in the Philippines. Also, he pointed out the necessity of regulation and compliance developing hand-in-hand with blockchain technology. He believes that in a near future DLT will be put into practice in various industries creating further demand of regulation, and with his expertise in the field, Raul offers valuable consultancy and guidance.
Earle Hall, AxesNetwork — well-known Canadian entrepreneur spearheaded an ample of start-ups in the gaming, entertainment, CRM, and video game industries. As a CEO of AXESnetwork, Earle spoke about the unparalleled features which AXESnetwork bring to the table, mostly in the areas of IoT, big data, information correlation, and predictability.
Lars Lien, LuckBox — an eSports betting enthusiast has been in the industry for more than 15 years. Lars elaborate on LuckBox’s path to crypto adoption, but also how players reacted to a fully-licensed betting platform focused on crypto, in-game items and cash wagers.
Shaun McCamley, Euro Pacific Asia Consulting — having almost 40 years of experience in land-based and digital gaming industries allowed Shaun to create first network gaming solution in 1999 using Flash technology. Shaun is a celebrated panelist around the globe, and during Asean gaming summit, he explained how EPA aided casinos in terms of operation, consulting, business planning, project developing, but also explained what blockchain revolution changed and enhanced.
The event started quite interactively with Oron’s evaluation of audience blockchain knowledge and application:
Once the experiment has been completed, the panel moved onto some interesting topics revolving around current state of blockchain utilization in iGaming, but also what the future holds. Compliance and regulation, being the most trending subject within the industry, was being discussed most fervently.
Lars later described how digital items (antiques) which are uniquely designed and limited in quantity are traded and sold only for staggering amounts. eSports is growing with lightning speed and players are using cryptocurrency for in-game purchases and trades.
Oron pinpointed how marketing casinos in general has become trickier as social media conglomerates such as Facebook and Twitter restrained all casino and cryptocurrency related topics altogether. Cryptocurrency community, however, didn’t yield to this. Cryptocurrency experts have exploited an opportunity and built decentralized social media that are widely used for different types of business, iGaming being one of them.
The panel itself lasted for 1 hour; however an abundance of participants wanted to learn more and indulged in a conversation with our panelist after the panel ended. This further implies that the interest in the blockchain is constantly growing and people are eager to learn how they can use the technology in their respective businesses.
