What kind of music do people listen to there? I assume there is a variety, like everywhere else. Is there a local music scene where you live? Any cool bands you can recommend? Maybe drop in a YouTube video of some person or group you like.
Thanks!
Thanks for the cool question about our music taste.
The whole country listens to the same chart music as people around the world.
And the long and dark winter time has involved in the music industry, we produce a lot of different music styles.
What the media tells us, the heavy metal scene has our own styles, that are known around the world.
Bands like Sonata Arctica, Him, Apocalyptica, Nightwish and Children of Bodom.
I personally like these bands, Tool, Ghost, Slipknot and Pantera.
These bands are old, except the Ghost, but so am I.
My all time favorite must be Guns n Rose's
Thanks for the great answer! I know Nightwish (I love their Wishmaster song) and Children of Bodom, but not the first 3 you mentioned. So I will check them out!
I know all the other bands you listed. I think Ghost is cool and Guns n Roses had lots of good tunes.
What about Finntroll? Trollhannaren is a fun song. :)
I like Ensiferum too. From Afar is epic!
What ever age you are, you rock, sir! \m/
Wow, it's very cool that you know Fintroll.
That's extensive knowledge, to me.
Thanks, we both rock, my man!
Back to the issue..
I know of Fintroll, but they are not my favorite bands.
And I thought wrong that Ensiferum, would be from Sweden.
Ensiferum has Netta Skog, a heavy metal Harmonic player. COOL!
You might enjoy this YouTube video, from her.
I needed to look up Fintroll, because I remembered wrong that Marco Hietala Would have been a part of them.
I really respect Mr Hietala, for he is a father, looks like Gandalf, has a great singing voice and has been in the finnish music industry for a long time.
He was a founding member of the Tarot band, that was started in the 80's
Thanks for this video! I have never seen that instrument before but it seems similar to an accordion except that it has buttons on both parts of it. Netta did a great job playing such a long piece. She deserves the Win!
How scary is it living with a mutual border with Russia? Is it just a minor thing? Is it something you think about often?
In the 50s and 60s a nuclear exchange with Russia always seemed a possibility. It wasn't in the front of my consciousness but I certainly thought about it some.
Oh, that's a great question.
And I'm not afraid of the Russian neighbor.
I'm currently much more afraid of the US president.
You see, in my opinion the Russian president Mr Putin has kept on that target of a power hungry lion.
They've been a bad boy and keep on being it, you know you can trust it.
But Russia as a neighbor, they absolutely love us, the Finland neighbors.
When the Soviet Union fell, some people from Russia begun to buy businesses and summer cottages here in Finland.
And a lot of Russians come spend their holidays in Finland, as well.
You see, Finland welcomes everybody to visit or come live in here.
And the Russians see this as the friendly neighbor who is close to Russia and offers a western culture with safe environments.
I even know that the Russians make the biggest foreign minority in the country.
In fact, I know that my 6 year old twins have a Russian boy in the same group.

I came across to a reply to comment you left on content by @bigtom13.
Yes people will stop and comment, communication is the structure of all social media platforms.
Finding/taking great photography of your region, telling stories, folklore, farming, travel within a short story of say 200 words together with photos is a wonderful way to start.
Try the 5 minute daily write run by @mariannewest a different topic each day to get the feel, not everything goes into earning from contests, more designed to entice people to share/visit each other.
Hope this helps and look forward to having questions for you next time about Finland a country I have never visited, have read some wonderful reviews and places to visit when venturing north.
Up to you now, what month are the Northern Lights viewed in, and which town is best suited to observe from in Finland?
I have written daily posts and tried everything I think of, but gotten nowhere.
My original response to this discussion was to criticize this platform.
I don't want to become a popular person here, I'm quite satisfied with the current situation.
It's just that I think the whales of this platform are content to their own situations and they are not available to the newbies.
I actually would like to offer these big winning contests, but I lack the funds.
Most arrive feeling lost, by presenting good content, visiting others commenting, it all takes time before people start extending invitation/follow. Use tags to identify, many communities welcome folks, joining the small contests gives a good overall feel with certain communities really helping newbies.
Connect and chat in Discord where you get to know others a little better, perseverance definitely pays off. Not all, but some whales are there guiding and sharing, it is up to individual to find them on the system.
I am an idea inventor
You said earlier that I would need to take part in the 5 min free writing program.
The problem with this is that it's you that write to you and other writers like you.
I'm not a writer and I don't want to take part in this.
And it's not interesting to other people who don't like free writing.
And it's not targeted to the whole community or taking them in the program.
So, here's my newest suggestion.
This let's you dive in to other people's articles.
And makes you ANSWER to them!!
