AskSteem: Which Steem Dapp are you betting on bringing mass adoption to Steem?

in #asksteem6 years ago

I asked this question about 6 months ago and figured it be a good time to refresh on it and see what has changed and if Steemians are into new dapps now that they believe will become super popular on Steem and on the rest of the internet thus bringing more users to our blockchain. Bear in mind I wrote that post before dlive decided to stab us in the back so probably just skip that part if you're gonna read the post or just go straight to the comments which should be interesting considering it was 6 months ago.

So let's see in comparison how things have changed, I realize one of the biggest differences will be the amount of comments I'm going to get on this post due to activity but oh well.

Which Steem Dapp do you think will bring mass adoption to Steem?

PS. I thought it was about time to change the name of this "series" from "asksteemit" to "asksteem". :P

Sort:

@Steemmonsters - brings Steemit to the gaming community
@Wherein - brings Steemit to the Chinese community
@Share2Steem - brings Steemit to the big social media platforms

@partiko has a very good and consistent development. @wherein is another that is really working well.
For the moment I don’t see anything disruptive... despite I think @actifit can have a lot of chances of disruption if they manage to define better their scope in terms of targets and objectives. What would be the benefits of earning AFIT tokens for instance... something like providing discounts on buying running stuff etc...

Thanks @toofasteddie,
We actually have such plans and they are mentioned on our website, we even mentioned recently our discussions with a big smartwatch provider about the possibility of using AFIT tokens for discounting or even fully funding such purchases.

You are doing great @mcfarhat . Step by step 😉

+1 to these choices.

Some game yet to be released, that is available on the app stores at Apple and for Android. Free to download, and fiat required to buy treasure chests containing SP and diamonds :)

Think of all the money you could make. Let's just create a solitaire game on the blockchain and then add chests you can win after playing 100 games of solitaire or the low low price of 5 Steem. We could even let others create the custom "skins" for our cards and only take 90% of there profit they make from selling the card skins on our platform. The diamonds could be used to cheat or speed up the game some how and then at the end of each week whoever wins the most games of solitaire gets some SP!

How are your coding skills? :)

I heard a few months back the the SM team were looking at real-time strategy built on top of the SM setup. That sound's pretty cool to me.

Ummm is there a coding for dummies book because that's where I would need to start.

SM is the best game Dapp currently across all platforms with the potential to become the best or one of the bests on the market. I'm not trying to talk down on SM at all. It's great, but has the potential to be awesome.

Good running and successfull, Steemmonsters for sure, amazing business model

Mass adoption, maybe something like @wherein but I think we will not see anything mass-like in the first 3 years...

Posted using Partiko Android

@wherein is my bet.

Which Steem Dapp do you think will bring mass adoption to Steem?

Obviously, the one that I'm currently developing and working on it so far. :)

There is still a long way to go for official release to be a project developed in solitary. There is still a lot to stay attentive and debug according to the recent swinging changes within the steem API condenser code. SteemConnect4j + Jussi + Beem + Ruby + Python + Javascript + Hivemind + RocksDB + SMTs + running everything on a proper TestNet.

One Steem Dapp, that at least in my mind, would bring mass adoption to Steem mainly from my countrymen. Since it has been planned for their benefit in first place. And yeah, I can't reveal any further details yet. Because I may well drop dead at any instant living in this country.

So, by now, I will only say that this Steem Dapp has something to do with blockchain ventures with a certain resemblance similar to this project to try establish a real Renting & Sharing economy for my country and its population. Yes, but it will dawns and we will see if that would be even feasible.

Cheers!!

Steem Monsters. People can just game and not even know there is an entire blockchain/cryptocurrency and so forth. They don't need be a content creator just a gamer. They can be here for a good time and nothing else. Once they add in "monster bucks" or what ever so people can just buy into the game and cards off the market they could put an app for it in any store. With people needing to even think about "how do you buy cryptocurrency" and all other stuff it brings. The masses and main stream get fearful of such things.

wherin is the app to unlock the chinese community to steem (delegation is open to @wherin and brings you token points and a daily post vote)

I was just posting on Steemhunts post about working with an exchange to get a base pair. Honestly, if someone was in the community that had the tools/know how to set-up an exchange on the Steem blockchain that could be huge on 2 fronts. One it would give a place for people on the platform to buy and sell SMTs. Two you just had the Cryptopia hack/exit scam throw some of those crap coins on the exchange and you're creating a steem exchange that brings over some Shitcoiners, but this is probably a huge undertaking.

Another future app I'd like to see on Steem is a streaming service for mobile games. There are a few options currently from non-crypto companies but would love a twitch for mobile gaming on the blockchain, but this is a very niche dapp.

I think @actifit has the highest potential of any app currently. The medical industry is big business and if they can team up with the right partners it could bring big money to the Steem platform.

If @steemmonsters can become the next hearthstone or magic. IMO it's currently a great Blockchain TCG. If it can become a great TCG this could bring a significant amount of people as well, but even if it's the best TCG ever you're only attracting users interested in Trading Card Games.

In the short term I think a dapp that allows you to instantly sign up on the platform that "gamifies" the initial account creation process rewarding small Steem or SP delegations for a few months for filling out about in user profile, including a link to a website, etc. Kind of what I explained in this comment. Streamlining account creation is a must for mainstream adoption.

I think it will be the next Amazon type business to bring Steem mainstream. Hey I have a bunch of Steem Power setting around let me log on to my Steemazon account and see what delegation requests is paying the most returns. Hey I made x steem on my returns last night, I wonder if I have enough steem to purchase that new gaming computer I want to stream on. Dang barely not enough I wonder if I can pay someone to find and build me a computer cheaper than that, let me write a quick "post" to see if I can pay someone to do this for me cheaper. The dapp that will bring mass adoption will be the dapp that people can't live without

Maybe I should have just wrote a post and replied with a link to my post lol.

I'm guessing Actifit. I've been in various fitness settings (I have a background a a personal trainer) to know how popular gamifying and rewarding exercise can be. And nowadays, it feels like half the population has a fitbit.

I would like DTube to be the app killer or maybe Partiko that I enjoy so much!

Steempress :D

Change to title to Askaacidyo :P Well, to be very honest there are some dapps that are working in a very good way, My vote is for @steemhunt, It is properly organized and the team is also dedicated.
@musing was also doing good, but now i think they are leaving the space, @dtube is the other one that can help to bring mass adoption.

musing is leaving?.. :( because of the undelegation?

Yes, i think so, they have initiated the power down, which is pointing that they are leaving

Well that doesn't have to mean they are leaving directly. :D

hahaha :P They have stopped curating @acidyo :P this is again pointing they are leaving :D They vp is 100 :D

Aww that sucks to hear. :( I think someone else was planning a Q&A dapp as well, though.

Someone? who? you? :P haha well, you are close to 80 reputation :P Best of luck for that ;)

There are a couple but I am going to go with a wildcard and say that @dlux-io is doing some interesting things and could attract some devs that are looking for a bit more innovation. Not exactly sure what will come of it but, something to keep an eye on.

@tarazkp Hey , can we get some more information about @dlux-io?

Yeah, I just had a look at it now.. and it does seem slightly confusing...

Yes it does :D

but go to https://dlux.io/ and enter VR. It is 3D environment that has the ability to have the links etc to the blockchain for transactions. It is very rough but I could quite easily see some minecraft-esque applications in a space like tha and perhaps a 3D shooter with blockchain interactions embedded into the games.

Ahhhh, that makes way more sense! Thanks! I'm not really in the VR space at all... but I don't think anyone can deny it's an exciting place to be working in.

Hahaha yeah @abdulmanan & @aussieninja, just wait until I explore deeper ZapWorks to give a good hand with new ideas to the guys of @dlux-io. };)

see below :)

edit: or above :D

Pick me! ;)

Honestly, I think it'll be Appics. It's pretty high-end and they seem to be at roadshows and conferences constantly... as well as trying to onboard celebrities. Obviously SMTs have held them back pretty hard... but with Steemians developing their own SMTs maybe they won't be held back for much longer.

Appics is an interesting choice, I heard they were looking elsewhere due to the delay with SMT. Feel a bit sorry for them to be honest, even though I'm generally not a paragraph+image poster (there could come a time!).

I do as well... I get the impression they chose to build their product on Steem purely for the SMT-functionality, got a really slick looking interface out the door early, organised a ton of events, and then have just been left hanging.

I'm not surprised they're looking elsewhere, they should, really... but hopefully the new Steem SMT side-chain projects might be convince them to stay a little longer...

Yeah, you can't blame them at all.

They are still adding features to appics, video content now available as advertised by surfermarly recently.

Steem Monsters and Vimm can do a lot to attract a gamer audience into Steem but platforms like Musing and Dlike can help a lot to attract people that tend to consume small/short content in huge amounts, like reddit or quora users.

But a clear development road and more transparency and openness with Steemit, inc is what will attract big investors into the site :^)

I believe appics dApp will bring alot of people into the steem blockchain , because it's appealing to a new generation of people that loves photos and video sharing as well and appics will be geared towards the younger generation that constitute 70 percent of international users.

Well it will be more than one :)

Games are my best guess at the moment. Steem Monsters. If we take a look at the trends in EOS, gambling as well .... magic dice
Also light interface dapps.... Partiko, Appics, Actifit... Dtube is a great project ... but they need to tokenize their platform ... Buying online... to bad that dstors didnt went well.... maybe a new candidate will come out... Long list here :)

I've heard that most of the gambling dapps on EOS are bots trying to outperform house edge from airdropped token on their accounts just cause they had EOS.

Yep ... bots are always in the game, even here on steem based gambling dapps. Magic dice is very atractive since they offer to share the profit with token owners.

I don't know @steemmonsters is a dapp or not, but it getting people attention and people are adopting it very fast, Every one love to play and win.

If you ask me, I'd love to see busy bring the people home, if it falls in the realm of dApps.

From the current available ones?

there's quite a few to choose from and probably many more that aren't listed there yet. ^^

Yea I know.
Still, the killer App is missing.

Maybe Steemblr by catching censored tumblers..

Or engrave with multiple blog technology ;)
Cant wait for it!

But right now.. As things are: Partiko

I picked Dlive 6 months ago lol.. my pick for more would be Actifit

lol, @actifit will be super glad you picked them this time! :P

Lol we certainly are! :D

Don't leave us, we need you!

Great news I heard on the utopian weekly today! :D

I ran into the Dlive not long ago ;)

STEEM MONSTERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I think the best Steem related product was Poker. Was not dapp though, it was before d'stuff'. Authors many times asked for some kind of Steemit sponsorship, delegation, help and were struggling keeping things going and they were ignored. I could never understood it. But some posters like Syssy...something was delegated bunch of steem and that person was daily multiple upvoting herself and transfering steem to bitshares wallet. And no one cared even as there was cries of foul.

Partially off topic I know, but since then I just don't see Steemit in the same light and I'm not surprised how it is under-performing.

For me it's @partiko.

Posted using Partiko Android

I'd like to see an app designed solely for money transfers.
Not sure of what will make the app special, but simple account creation, safe payment system + extremely fast transfers could attract people to use Steem even without the social side and all the "pay to win"-things we have here.

It could bring mass attention and more people on the blockchain.

Hey, there is SteemWallet by @roelandp https://steempeak.com/utopian-io/@roelandp/steemwallet-1-1-0-major-updates-in-app-payment-1-click-to-buy-account-creation-themes-api-node-switcher-multicurrency-support

There were few others but I did not see any news for quite some time from them. Is that something you meant?

So it seems this has been already made?
I'm assuming this could work well even by promoting this based on the fast transactions.

This seems really good though, I should probably install this and see if it's as good as I hope :) Thank you!

https://musing.io created by @Musing had a great potential until support (delegation) from Steemit Inc was withdrawn. Musing provided a unique interface through which non-steem users could easily adopt due to its low technical needs in posting. Just asking and answering questions was just an easy path to surge mass adoption. However, I am not giving up on @Musing.

However, another DApp that is quite capable of bringing mass adoption to Steemit is @Partiko due to the friendliness of the interface. @Partiko's growth and acceptance is unparalleled and I see it grow bigger.

Finally, I say in line with the great poet "the beautiful STEEM DApps are not yet created"

Let's keep our fingers crossed. A DApp will soon come that will be a large bridge for Steem.

Thanks @Acidyo for this.

how's good ol dlive doing these days!?!

Steem recently has got some nice dApps.
But the ones like @steemmonsters, @actifit, @dtube and @utopian-io could be the game changers.

I think there are a number coming from different angles and interest which is why it is encouraging but my thought is @partiko and @steemmonsters.

wherein is my bet

Posted using Partiko iOS

Hi! In my opinion there are several dapps.
For people who love to play of course it's SteemMonsters, @Magicdice and @8ballclub
For people who feels more comfortable in social area it's @share2steem
For that who active it's @actifit fitness tracker
And also I whant to mention @Partiko.
All this dapps can bring mass adoption but every in it's own area.

I would have to say appics. Appics has a bright future for us!

My pick is Appics because it so easy and appeals to most people...Just posting photos and videos. How awesome!

I think it's one that hasn't been created yet.

Posted using Partiko Android

Considering their new most recent post definitely Steemhunt. If they manage that the world will be different for steem.

Alternatively, the first dApp to trailblazer and get a ERC-20 token listed, or a EOS DEX listing. It will all cascade from there.

Thus not a direct answer but something we need after the SMT clusterfrak.

@partiko all day long. Aside being a amazing dApp rewarding for every activity carried out with their app, they are currently rewarding their users for every user they invite on Steem and to Partiko.

Posted using Partiko Android

i support steemhunt

That's a tricking one. I used steepshot before and nothing else until recently appic. Still have not find a good reason to bet on any.
