Asprin has a negative side effect of causing gastritis and thus disrupts your ability to effectively digest your food not to mention can cause intestinal bleeding.
Here is an invitro study looking at a couple of herbs. I bet that if the above study was run looking at the same patients but using a clinically effective dose of curcumin which is a extract of tumeric that there would be even better or equivalent results while also having positive rather then negative side effects.
