Yesterday (Friday the 9th), the Moon was conjunct Mars, and tonight (Saturday, the 10th), it's conjunct Saturn. Since Mars and Saturn are entering a conjunction for the next few weeks, (which will be exact on April 2nd), the last couple days have been a good time to get a feel for the energy that’s a-comin.
Mars represents speed, heat, anger—a sort of war and warrior like quality. You might have experienced some unexpected fire—maybe it found its appropriate fuel, or maybe you felt burned. Saturn is associated with slowness, with discipline, focus, and seriousness and solitude. Thus, you might be finding yourself drawn towards deep work, time with something you feel committed to, or frustrated in the search for these things.
As these two planets come together in the coming weeks, it might feel like trying to speed with the brakes on. If there are structural issues in our life, they may catch fire. If we’re going too fast, we might find ourselves halted. Ideally, we’ll find ourselves able to give some focused fire to those things that feel truly important, learning about our sense of integrity and range of capability in the process.
This is taking place in the Vedic Nakshatra of Mula, ‘The Root,’ which is located around the Galactic Center. This area of the sky is associated with a deep and nearly violent understanding, reaching to the core of an issue—Kali resides here. Connecting to the roots of something, we find medicinal clarity, seeing through delusions (that which keeps us out of play, 'de-ludo’) and acting with a protector’s strength.
After this conjunction with Saturn, Mars will be entering another long conjunction with Pluto, which will be experienced as a little steamier, drawing us towards intensity, naked truth, and raw, vulnerable emotions. Here, there’s a greater potential for explosions of blind instinct, as well as cathartic cleansing and deep expression.
Weaving through these two, Mars is highlighting the Saturn/Pluto conjunction that is already active and building steam over the next couple years. Globally, we can think of Saturn/Pluto as leading to conservative empowerment, organized and disciplined use of force, and the ending of one order and establishment of the next. More to come on Saturn/Pluto!
