Mercury in Cancer
When Mercury is in Cancer (or any Water Sign) thought and feelings mingle -- a lot! Logical analysis gains an extra helping of intuition ... which both improves and complicates the process, IMO. (But then don't mind me, I have Mercury in Pisces, so I'm biased.) Ideas have to feel right to gain much of a hearing in this marriage of left and right brain thinking. Otherwise, we'll dither and fret until they do.
Emotions color our perceptions with Mercury in Cancer. We are more compassionate, more empathetic and caring. If you can convince me that's a bad thing, you're welcome to try, but don't count on it. Astrology itself considers this a weakening of Mercury's powers, a corruption of its abilities for sharp discernment. Maybe for the purists, but I'm not convinced. To me this adds an extra measure of what makes us human in the first place to the way our minds work, and I just don't see that as a problem.
With Mercury in Cancer we think about safety-and-security, home-and-family, memories and "the past." We may work with more intimate concerns -- both ours and others' -- in conversations, especially with family members. We'll muse more, get lost in memories of long ago -- that often contain messages relevant to contemporary issues ... or matters that need to heal and find closure.
Here we find more dimensions of ourselves and reach more self-understanding. Our relationships improve when the people we love feel heard and valued. When they know we're on their side, that we care and that we consider them important, life improves. If you don't believe me, try it. Here's your chance while Mercury is still in Cancer. These last eleven days can make a difference. Give it a shot.
