In America, January 20th is the official inauguration date for newly elected presidents. For many years, days like these have passed with your occasional grumblings from unhappy citizens. This year is different. Due to the pandemic and its effects on our steadily-crumbling society, our country is filled with angry, restless and invigorated citizens. Many from different walks of life either see Biden as a step forward in their future or a step backwards. This country has always been divided, but this year has lifted all veils and has put this division right in our faces. We can no longer sweep it under the rug or claim it doesn’t exist.
Astrology sings to those who are able to interpret its words. Many talented astrologers predicted the events that have transpired in the past year. January, and 2021 in general, is only a small hint of what is to come. On December 21st of 2020, we had the great conjunction, where Saturn and Jupiter had aligned in the closest configuration in over 400 years, which defines generations and ushers new beginnings. This kind of conjunction happens about every 20 years but this particular one is significant, because its starting a new era, that will span a few hundreds of years.
The 12 signs can be separated elementally, by air, fire, water and earth. In the last 200 years, the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction has mostly occurred in earth signs. As we approached the end of 2020, we shifted into what many would call an “air” period. Earth periods coincided with materialism, the rise of billionaires, mass production of resources, industrialization and much more. We also saw climate change come into focus, and towards the end of it, a pandemic. During the air period, there is a possibility of exploring uncharted areas in space (colony on Mars maybe?) and introducing ground-breaking technological advances. It can indicate instability, less ownership in general and possessions. This is unlike the earth periods where a big theme was grounding energy. Air periods can be a time of great freedom, change and movement. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a lot of mass migration occur under this time.
The old ways are done and 2020 has confirmed that. 2021’s theme deals with shaking up all kinds of structures. I want to add a quick disclaimer – I am not trying to make anyone fearful. Humanity’s history is filled with different ages. We are, after all, intimately connected on a microcosmic and macroscomic level. If a human being, can undergo multiple transformations and changes in their own life, than countries, societies, organizations, belief systems and even the world, powered by such beings, would also undergo transformations. Obviously, since these entities span hundreds and even thousands of years, it makes sense that their falls and risings reflect with time.
On January 20th, 2021, Jupiter in Aquarius will square Mars and Uranus conjunct in Taurus. This aspect pattern, along with Saturn, will occur multiple times through the year. The energy that it entails is of rebellion, fighting for a cause and empowerment. This energy can show sudden upheaval, disruptive and somewhat chaotic changes but backed up by optimism and expansive desires. This energy can be productive and helpful. It can be a desire to overthrow dead systems that are no longer fruitful. It can be creative and focused on finding solutions to long-sought after problems. It can also be sudden justice. It won’t all be a walk in the park though as sometimes we can become identified with a problem and ultimately restrict ourselves because of fear of change. These energies are highly infectious, but as long as we are aware of the cosmic play at hand, we can use them constructively. Let this year inspire a personal revolution for you and may it happen in the highest good of all.
