Dukes and Duchesses of the Deserted!
The Theme:
This week's theme = Commercial/Industrial! The photos must be of abandoned commercial or industrial facilities. Factories, malls, hotels, mills, stores, mines, etc. Basically, any place that someone would go to when they said they're "going to work".
My Thoughts:
Man oh man, there was a lot of cool abandoned stuff posted this week! Did you guys take a look through them all? If not, I strongly recommend clicking on that "aswcontest" logo and having a look through all of the entries. As always, it was extremely difficult to pick winners out of so many great photos, but I have made my final choices. Now then, lets get to this week's winners:
1st Place Winner - 20 SBD: @bil.prag
Once again, @bil.prag makes it onto the scoreboard. His whole post about this old mill was just awesome, but this photo in particular embodies EXACTLY what I pictured in my mind when I came up with the "commercial/industrial" theme. Well done!
From the author: "This old mill is located in Padina, Serbia (South Banat District). It was in use till the 80s and now it is just abandoned."

2nd Place Winner - 10 SBD: @otage
I love this shot. I'm a huge, HUGE fan of trees and plant life growing in places that it just should not be. It really represents my whole motivation to make this Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest; and that is to display instances of nature reclaiming man-made things.
From the author: " I came across this building while traveling in Italy. It was part of a coal mining complex that had long been closed down. "

3rd Place Winner - 5 SBD: @creepycrazylife
Check out this photo looking up the stairwell of a once luxury hotel. Full disclosure - there was some bias on my part here because I actually knew this hotel as it was only about 20 minutes away from where I grew up. The place was built in 1897 but really had problems from The Great Depression onward, until it closed for good in 1998. I never went inside, but always wanted to... and @creepycrazylife gave me that opportunity through his post.
From the author: "The Hotel Sterling was an extravagant hotel with 175 rooms, a beautiful ballroom, and many other banquet areas. Now if you want to see what's there now, almost 5 years later, close your eyes and think of an empty unpaved lot with nothing on it..."

Honorable Mentions - 1 SBD each:
@edward.maesen
"The shipyard was operational from 1853 to 1996 and on its 5,200 acres you'll find all kinds of industrial buildings, cranes, heavy machinery, train tracks etc. in different states of decay."

@bookpacker
"Since we were driving our van through Bulgaria we were able to stop at some off the beaten path places along the way. As soon as we heard about Buzludzha we knew we just had to get there. This crazy building is the former meeting house of the Bulgarian Communist Party and lies abandoned on the top of a hill in Central Bulgaria."

@ocrdu
"One of the many small factories that once stood near the centre of Enschede, The Netherlands. Most are gone, and this one isn't feeling well."

@inyenealexander
"This is an old war museum in my state which was abandoned 27 years ago.
It is located at the southern part of Nigeria, most of the weapons that were kept here were used in fighting the nigerian civil war."

@axeman
"Today, after 20 years of Lithuanian independence, only sad view remains - abandoned and rusted place, but very interesting for landscape and even some art fashion photoshoot."

FINAL THOUGHTS
Again, if you didn't win... don't be discouraged. There will be a lot of these contests with lots of different themes. There were quite a few imagines that were disqualified for not adhering to the rules. Several were submitted after deadline. Other's submitted many entries when only one is allowed. I hate to be a stickler, but I'd like to keep this as fair as I can. ALSO, I've found quiet a few entries that were images stolen from the internet... DON'T DO THAT. Not only will it be disqualified, but I'll flag you for doing so.
Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №. 5 will be announced tomorrow (Tuesday) and look for the official contest post to see what the week's theme will be! I'm so excited and I hope you all join in, once again! Now, I'm off to distribute payouts!
I absolutely love this contest… Thank you for continuing it and keeping The quality coming. One of the best I've seen on the entire platform.
Wow, that's quite the compliment! Thanks @abrockman!
congratulations to all the winners you all deserved it coz that's true shit
Well said!
Thanks, i am gratefull for the sbd
Thank you very much! Have seen many great posts this week! Looking forward to next week...
That communist building is awesome. I've even seen it on a few tv shows. This week's theme was just posted!
Congratulations to all the winners and participants! Thank you @customnature for running such a cool contest. There's so much great stuff here that I would love to visit and thanks to you... abandoned but not forgotten!
I'm glad you enjoy the contest! Yeah, I jealous of a lot of these entries. I'd love to snoop around these locations.
Congratulations to the winners. Indeed those places would have been resourceful to the citizens and also to the economy of the society. Thank you @customnature
i did not see all of the posts, but there were some great ones. I saw the meeting house of the Bulgarian Communist Party few days ago, and so wanted to be some photos from the inside but i guess it was not possible.
did not realize right away but hotel had a great view, it was a nice place.
did not expected to win but yey i won something :D
That Bulgarian Communist building is legendary in the urbex community. The inside has been photographed a bunch by others and has a huge Hammer and Sickle logo on the ceiling in the big round room. It's a pretty rad spot, not everyone is so determined to get inside places though and that is understandable. The processing you did with your mill shots is top notch, I dig your style.
i now looked for the photos, it looks crazy. 700km from me, who knows, one day :D
I loved those cobweb covered machines in your post. It looked like an awesome place.
it looks like today we go to work and next day they just decided to not show up, ever again :D
I knew when I saw @bil.prag’s post that it would be a contender!!! Congratulations man!!! Hope I have something for the next round!!!
thanks.
Thanks for the Honorable Mention and award :) And congrats to the other winners. The first place image is stunning!
Thanks again! Love this contest and can’t wait until the new one!
