RE: 2018 Audi A8 W12 (585hp) - TECH TOUR (60FPS)

What is all this unwarranted angst over exhaust outlets that blend with the clean lines at the rear of a vehicle?. Are some folks advocating that car manufacturer's of luxury vehicles like the Audi A8, just stick with double pipes, with a chrome tip?. I would think that the humble exhaust pipe is long overdue for some refinement, from just a straight pipe or pipes sticking out, with or without a chrome tip. Then we have cries of "foul", because a vehicle might have twin exhaust outlets, but one is fake. I say so what?. Such an inclusion is to "balance" a rear view, to keep it in symmetry. Is it really such a big deal?. If, as an owner of one, you agonize over it, then spend a few dollars and plumb some extra pipe from it to the actual exhaust. Problem solved, no longer fake. You'll be rewarded with exhaust fumes coming from it, but not with the thrust of the main one. Back in 1990, my six cylinder Ford Falcon had just one exhaust, so I had extra pipe let into the main to another outlet on the right. With a pair of good quality chrome exhaust tips poking out and angled up slightly from under the rear bumper, it looked the "dog's stones", that is, it looked good, balanced up the rear end nicely. As for the new Audi A8, the dog's stones to be sure. So refined in fact, that the Mercedes S class has some serious competition this time round...
