Sunshine in the bush and happiness in my heart

in #australia8 years ago (edited)

Every year the Australian bush blazes in full green and gold patriotic glory. To me it signifies hope, the bushes way of teasing me that spring is near. We are on the final days of a bitterly cold winter. With the Olympic games in full swing it is timely that these spring blooms arrived slightly early. On my morning walk down to the local creek in Stanthorpe (Queensland Australia), I was greeted with this golden blaze of native wattle.

Wattle is Australia's national emblem. With over one thousand varieties in Australia, it can be found in virtually every ecosystem in the country, from rainforests to mountain areas, deserts, and along our beaches. It connects our country, bringing sunshine to the bush and happiness to my heart.

These photos were taken by me on our morning walk to my daughters favourite spot  “the red bridge." It is a short walk near the centre of town up to an old railway bridge built over 100 years ago. Once a month a beautiful restored steam train puffs it way across the bridge, but otherwise the tracks are no longer in use.  If anyone comes to visit me, I always take them to this spot.

Until next time, Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

The scary thing is Bridget that it's still winter, It was a cold winter this year but like last year was a short one. We have wattles flowering to and I am about 12 hours south of you.

Hi @thoth. We had this weird warm burst for just under a week about a month ago. My wisteria started budding. It does not usually start until October. Apparently it is causing grief for the local farmers and wineries as they have to re-do the winter pruning which may affect this years harvest. It is still cold here at night and we have a few frosts still.

Wow beautiful colours! We must be on a similar mindset today, I've just been out in the garden drawing, you'll see in my next post!
I love waking up and checking what you have been posting, put's a smile on my face :)

We are on opposite ends of the world aren't we! Pretty cool. It is night time here and I am winding down ready to start my non-traditional weekend that starts on a Monday.

I used to work in hospitality, my weekend aways started on a Tuesday!

Love it, I only walked through the bush near Flat Rock in Ballina yesterday and my partner picked a bunch of wattle and some other natives to put on our kitchen table. Fantastic time of year!

Yellow is one of the happiest colours. It is not used enough in our homes. Wattle can fix that :) Nice idea, I might go pick some tomorrow. Thanks for reading my post @rawnetics

I like this images, they produce a warm feeling :) I like it
