The innovation of the world of railways came from Japan. Most recently, they will use the sound of animals, from dogs to deer as the horns.
Noisy horns are apparently not enough to stop or reduce the case of animal crashes by trains in Japan. Data mention, during the year 2016-2017 there are approximately 613 cases of trains late because of deer or other animals hit by train.
The data increased from 185 cases that occurred in the previous year. To that end, the Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) of Japan made a new innovation of the train horn that sounded animal sounds.
Compiled detikTravel from several sources, Wednesday (31/1/2018) according to RTRI, this animal-voiced train horn has been tested and proven to reduce the number of reindeer as much as 40%.
From RTRI research, they study deer behavior in the face of danger. Apparently, this horned animal sounds like a short snoring and repeatedly when in danger.
The researchers combine these warning sounds with the sound of dog barks that proved daunting to the deer. Expected with the sound of the combination, these deer will avoid the train crossing path.
"If our experiment succeeds, animal abusers at various locations do not need to be installed, we hope to be able to complete a system that works in the mountains or wherever the train company wants to use it," said RTRI newspaper Asahi Shimbun.
It is expected that this animal-voiced train horn can be used in various locations in Japan this year.
