The artist, DJ and music producer Tim Bergling, known as Avicii, was found dead this afternoon. He was 28 years old. The news was confirmed by his representative to the US media: "It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, known as Avicii, who was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday, April 20, in the afternoon. and we ask everyone to please respect their privacy at this difficult time, there will be no other communications, "says the message reproduced by Variety.
According to TMZ, Avicii fought for a long time against addictions. He was hospitalized twice for alcohol abuse, and much was said about his excesses. However, until now the reasons that led to his untimely death are unknown.
The musician, born in Sweden, had announced his retirement from the stage in 2016 with an extensive post on Facebook in which he said: "My path has been full of success, but not without problems, I have become an adult while I grew up. As an artist, I have come to know myself better and realize that there are so many things I want to do with my life ... Two weeks ago I took time to travel through the United States with my friends and my team, to look, see and Thinking about things in a new way, which really helped me realize that I needed to make the change that I've been thinking about for a while, but I'll never forget the music, I'll keep talking to my fans through it, but I have decided that in this 2016 I am going to do my last tour ... A part of me think never say never,I could be back ... But I will not be back. "
However, 17 months after that post, he returned to the ring with new music, more pop, more brilliant and as optimistic as dance, by the hand of a EP of six songs that he called AVICI (01) and of which Rita Ora participated, AlunaGeorge, Billy Raffoul, Vargas & Lagola and Sandro Cavazza.
Twice nominated for the Grammy awards for the best dance music recording, for "Levels" (2011) and "Sunshine" (2012), before the announcement of his retirement he was comfortably among the best paid DJs in the world with a collection of 28 million dollars in 2014, as confirmed by Forbes magazine that year.
A brand in the Olympus of the DJ
The last album of Avicii before announcing his retirement, Stories, was a review for his last four years, where his exposure and response to his work grew on a planetary scale. From Swedish House Maffia first, from the solo projects of its members later (Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso) and, above all, from the explosion that Avicii generated in the world panorama of the EDM (Electronic Dance Music), the Swedish DJs took over from the first place the famous Dutch people (Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Afrojack ...).
Among an endless list of hits, there are: "Wake me up", "Hey, brother", "Waiting for love" and "Levels".
