RE: Rise Up Peaceful Warriors! Sitting in a park, by a lake, remembering why I'm here... and sharing some wisdom from the book I'm reading :-)

Portland, it keeps coming up again and again, along with the west coast in general. I'm stuck back east (everyone said I was born on the "wrong" coast) there seems to be that something I resonate with from people over there...

Sort:

That is exactly how I felt in VA, including being trapped there. It took me loosing everything out east for me to realize I could leave with nothing, I was always waiting for a day when I would be "financially prepared", but the east coast has a way of not letting the lower class save anything. Only once I arrived in Oregon did everything about my life improve. I hope to see you out here one day, its at least worth a visit. I am going to check out Colorado for the first time this spring.

Thanks, @elemental that really says it all. Seeing "Portland" everywhere kind of reminds me of folks encountering the same number over and over. Makes you wonder if it isn't the Universe's way of saying "You know what you need to do."

The furthest west I've been is Chicago...

It's funny, from the reaction I get here, you'd think I was planning to visit the far side of the Moon! Not to mention, they're thinking Maine.

Different vibe...

I've got my eye on four cities: Portland, Seattle, SF and I hear Bend, is coming up as well.

School keeps me here for now, but when that's done, who knows? :)

Seatlle and San Fran are a little pricy from what I understand. I will say that Bend is beautiful, and definitely has high potential to have more access in the future. Currently it is kind of out there and on the low side of population. This makes getting property there a good investment, however it may be harder to find work there depending on your field.
