I am surprised that Imran Awan is only being charged with bank fraud, given the report of illegal wiretapping by his stepmother, the 20 burglaries being investigated by the Capitol Police, the fact that data was being sent offsite from the Congress, extortion and threats of murder and kidnapping, connections to Ali al-Attar, the recovery of equipment stolen from Congress in a home owned by Awan, and various other frauds and crimes which has been alleged against Awan by numerous independent sources.
Apparently, the Capitol Police aren't interested in Awan's direct knowledge and participation of the espionage and burglaries at Congress, in their jurisdiction.
Perhaps DWS's threat of 'consequences' was taken seriously.
I will remain skeptical of Trump's promise to 'drain the swamp' should an intense investigation into Awan's espionage fail to result in vigorous prosecution.
This is the smoking hot gun clamped tightly in the fingers of the enemies of the republic that should provide the rope to hang them.
That's probably so he can get out on good behavior in 13 months, like Hastert.
