Happy Halloween! Today was a shitty day, quite literally. Maverick had not pooped in over 3 days and had become extremely fussy. He seemed to be in pain. Then he wouldn't drink from his bottle but wanted to use it as a pacifier and screamed if we took it out of his mouth and tried to give him his actual pacifier. So I called the doctor and made an appointment. While on the phone, he did finally start to drink. But we still took him in because of the constipation and pain. After checking him out, which included an x-ray of his belly, the doctor made a few recommendations - pediatric glycerin suppositories twice a day for a couple days, 4oz of prune juice a day, and probiotic drops, which you know I'm already using. We pick up the supplies, get home, change his diaper, and find that he has at some point had a huge poop, before we ever had a chance to start treatment! We got him all cleaned up and let him soak in a warm bath. A few minutes after we get him dressed, he has a massive blowout! So much for the bath...lol He is now sleeping soundly, and Mommy and Daddy are very relieved. Hopefully, he will be less fussy now.
Oh Wow. Being a new mom isn't easy at all to start with. You really have your hands full with this precious guy. Is it a sign he is destined for great things?
We do have our hands full, but he is so worth it. I have read that babies usually start smiling intentionally between 6 and 12 weeks. He is 5 weeks today, so we are not far from that time frame. I am so excited and desperate to see him smile. It will make all the tears worth it just to see him smile!
