Survival Training

in #backpacking8 years ago

To make new experiences and learn to survive outside the city in the dangerous reallife world, me and some friends went to the wonderful mountains in switzerland.

The mountains of switzerland

Some days before the trip some stuff had to be fetched from the stores.
I was so happy that I packed the rain suit with me, later you will know why. A flint for fire making and four cans of fish with about 800g together.

The night before the adventure I packed the bag with stuff I would need. A Knife, a pot, ropes, some clothes, and bottles. Of course, I had a sleeping bag as well.

The day finally arrived and we were driven to the railway station where the adventure began.
The train ride wasn't exciting at all, we all know the sitting and sleeping there :P

I'm literally a cow boy!

Out of the city and diving into the country, I made a new friend who was interested in me.
Some days later I thought about eating my friend hungry - just joking :D

Exhausted by the train ride we had to reach a good spot for our first night. And the way we chose was everything else but not downhill. Wonderful training of course!

Together we explored the forests there and found water and some fruits. Very nice!
It was like beeing a child again, just better, hehe.

So the first 3 days passed and we slept every night on another spot. But then we found a crystal clear lake on the mountain. I think it was about 2km above the sea level, I'm not sure anymore.

This was our water supplier for the next days.

You could drink it just with your bare hands and it tasted so good. It was used for hot showers, cooking, washing. I could not imagine being there without this lake. thank you lake

Some posing with my cloud!

One day a heavy storm reached us and destroyed all the fun for us. It was cold, windy, wet and cold cold cold. The rain suit rescued me from the weather... a bit. The water went through the holes for the face into the inner parts! We managed to ignite a small fire within one or two hours. To maintain the fire a shelter was built by leaves and bark. The problem was that it burned after a short while. So we had to fight for the warm fire the whoooole long day. But we did it! Luckily.

All the ground transformed into a waterarea!

Like every night, the meal was prepared with plants and mushrooms which we found on the mountain. Furthermore, we had a bit rice with us. The portion was very small. But it was somehow ok.

A hot triangle...

...and a hot fire!

After a week and new experiences, the journey was a success and we decided to drive home again.
I lost more about 5-10kg in this short time, because of the hard work there and low caloric intake.
You don't want to see the picture, haha. So anorexic.

But instead of, you will get a picture from the start at the end here :P

Now I miss the time there, but it was definitely not the last time!

wow, so cool! what fruit did you find and how do you know they were edible? I would love to try it one day. Are there bears in the forest ?

There were plenty of wild strawberries there. I ate them before and didn't die, haha :D
But the stinging-nettles were everywhere and they were a good protein, carbs and fat supplier. I cooked them with hot water and "enjoyed" them. Yes, do it. I would recommend it. Luckily for the bears that they are not there. I wanted meat so hard!

so cool! Just google what stinging nettle was, will definitely look for it next time I go hiking.

thanks :)
