Coastal Clean-Up at Bagsakan: A Small Act for a Big Impact

in #bagsakan7 days ago
Hello, Hivers! How’s your day?

I hope everyone is doing well today. Allow me to share my experience during the coastal clean-up drive at Bagsakan, Gairan, Bogo.

Early Start for a Worthy Cause

The day was much ahead of dawn for me, I arrived at 4:00 AM as my papa dropped me off at school to join the clean-up drive. It was still dark, but the excitement of being part of something meaningful kept me awake. Fortunately, my friend Rhea was there with me, so we could find much easier and enjoyable cleaning up.

A Collective Effort for a Cleaner Shore

As I got to the coast, I saw already a group of volunteers gathering ready to get started. Protecting our hands with gloves and having trash bags as well as undying commitment we proceeded to pick plastic waste, broken glasses and other rubbish that had been washed ashore. It was disappointing seeing how much trash had amassed, but seeing us making a difference kept us encouraged to carry on.

More Than Just Cleaning

While we worked together, I came to realize that this clean-up drive was not only an effort to collect waste but also an effort to spread awareness. The sight of pollution blighting places directly made me realize how important proper waste disposal and care for our environment.

Apart from cleaning, we also acquired an initiative to have fun and exchange stories which made the task less tedious. It was of great pleasure to be among those who cared about nature just as much as I did.

A Reminder to Protect Our
Environment

Coastline looked a lot better by the time we finished, and everyone felt pretty good about it. It reminded me of the fact that small contributions from many people make a huge difference.

I hope that more people will get involved in initiatives like this and think about how they throw away their waste. Our oceans and marine creatures depend on it!

That’s it for today, Hivers!
