The spread of Islam has happened in the subcontinent very long ago. With the arrival of Muhammad Ghuri in India's northern inventions towards the heart of the 1300 century, Islam expanded into this subcontinent as soon as the Muslim empire came into being. In the subcontinent, the advent of Islam has played a major role in the advent of Arabs. But Islam has entered this subcontinent in different ways. For example - through the arrival of Muslim businessmen, Turkish victory, and the arrival of Muslim Sufis. Sunni people basically followed Hanafi majahab. They conducted Tabligh Jamaat. World Istema is on their backslide. In this world, there are about 50 lakh Muslims from all over Asia including Bangladesh. Another significant Muslim community in Bangladesh is Ahle Hadis who follow the Qur'an and hadith completely without following any madhhab. The people of this community are more likely to be found in Rajshahi and Khulna. The total population of this community in Bangladesh is around 2.75 lakhs. There are about 600 Ahl al-Hadith Mosque and 5 Ahle Hadis Madrasa in Bangladesh. There are three significant streams of Ahl al-Hadith found. These are Ahle Hadis Movement Bangladesh (AHAB) directed by Muhammad Asadullah Al-Galib, Ahle Hadis and Ahl al-Hadith Tabligh-e-Islam in Jamiya. Apart from this, two more communities are seen in Bangladesh ie Ahmadia and Shi'a. Nearly 100,000 people of Ahmedia Muslim living in Dhaka including Dhaka.

Even though the number of Muslims in Bangladesh is a big one, the constitution of Bangladesh gives importance to each and every person's own religion. In particular, Bangladesh's present government brought some changes in Bangladesh Awami League constitution which established secularism. The religion ministry of Bangladesh is supported by all religions. This Ministry helps all of the mosques, Eidgahs and religious rituals of Muslims to know and show them all about the timing of it. In Bangladesh, Muslims enjoy the convenience of their religion as a whole. A very important religious practice of Muslims is done by state funded papers and other arrangements for performing Hajj in Makkah. Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh is the main religion based political party in Bangladesh. This is the largest Islamic political party, not only in Bangladesh but in the entire sub-continent. The controversial role of this party in Bangladesh's liberation war raised the question of the Bengali people today.
