I don't know about you guys, but I love baseball cards. I love the pictures, the quips in the back of the cards, and even the stats in the back of the cards.
There is this disappointing trend in card-collecting, however, and it's that the average cost of a hobby box is becoming too high! Of course, I can go to a Target or Walmart to grab a box of baseball cards, but those things are called "Blaster" boxes and they usually don't have any guaranteed "hits" in them. "Hits" are what collectors call an autograph or game-used material embedded on the card. Hobby boxes, as you might've guessed, come with guaranteed "hits".
The solution that the sports card collecting community invented for the problem is actually kind of genius. Willing participants pool their money with a "breaker" or a "group-breaker" who takes the pooled money and buys all the expensive boxes. He or she then randomizes the participants' names to match a team or a player and then opens the boxes and ships the "hits" back accordingly.
Sometimes, amazing things like this happen in group breaks.
What is that, you ask? That's a Babe Ruth Bat Barrel Card. It's a One-of-one masterpiece. It'll probably sell upwards of $50,000.
