Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

@steembasicincome, I was thinking about a way that people can check the number of shares a person has at any given time.
Do you know any particular way that this thing can be achieved?
Yes, I have some ideas around this. For now, I was considering publishing a view-only of the google sheet I do most of the tracking in. In the long-term, I hope to build a web-site UI where members can see their shares, upvote history, etc. with convenient buttons to enroll shares or delegate through Steemconnetc.
If you want, I can build the UI for the website using mobile responsive layout of bootstrap. You can just provide me the wireframe of the website you have in your mind.

Thanks! I think the website needs to be a later piece because we need our own data layer in place with all the calculations first. Unless the web-site can regroup information from a flat google sheet format for better viewing?

You can check who sponsored you by searching in the @steembasicincome transactions history. Upvotes you can see through tools like Steemworld. We eventually will have some more user-friendly tools of our own.

@steembasicincome (57) one more question, how do I know what effect having more shares will have? I noticed that you're upvote was worth more when I went from one share two three does this ratio continue? Can you explain this little bit for me thank you
Yes. The total potential weight from each pool is 7000% (think 10 full upvotes daily over 7 days) per week. We identify each shares total % in that pool. Imagine pool 2 reaching 1000 shares: each share would receive 7% upvote weight.
That's a weekly figure, and people post at different frequencies, so for each person we calculate their total weekly upvote weight (based on their number of shares) and then divide by their posting frequency. If one share is 7% weekly, then a member with one share that posts daily would receive a 1% upvote on each post, but a member that posts only once a week would receive a 7% upvote. Now, if both members increased their share count, their total upvote weight would also increase (to 2% and 14%, respectively).
The weekly upvote weight per share is constantly changing as more members sign up (one reason to have multiple pools- pool 1 changes more slowly than pool 2), so you might add a share and not see your upvote weight change (but see more value from each upvote anyway). You might also see the value of your upvote drop sometimes if you start posting more frequently, or if there is a downswing in STEEM price - even if you are growing your share count.

You have 2 bonus shares from your upvoting history, and that will continue to grow if you consistently upvote. It helps the pool when our members upvote the updates, so we reward our members for those upvotes with bonus.
Is there a way to see how many shares you have?
We post a full list every weekend. I show you with one, but you will have more after I process the list of names you just sent over.

I have thought about this, as I do a lot of the tracking with google sheets. I don't like it as a long-term solution, but it might be a good mid-term solution.
Something like an own website is best, but as quick&dirty goes, that visible sheet solves the problem.
Your whole batch has been processed now. It will be a few days before I can post the visible sheet. I need to either clean it up for easier readability or do a full post on how to understand it.
This is a great initiative, I had someone sponsor me and I will be paying it forward as soon as the market plays nice lol. I have set up steemauto to auto upvote now which helps if I am not online when you do.

You will get a confirming transaction in your wallet when your enrollment is processed.
