These are my rough views on how last night's awards show went and some moments from it that I felt were noteworthy!
The First NBA Players awards ever how did it go?
First impressions
The NBA players awards in its inaugural event happened last night and for a first time, I think it went quite well. The presentation was done rather well apart from some weak jokes here and there. After all, what are award shows without some awkward moments here and there? Drake was surprisingly not as terrible as I expected but that might just be my bias. The TNT crew were on point as always airing each other's dirty laundry all for a good laugh. For the first Awards show, it was overall a very good showing and I hope in the years to come it will just get better.
Some noteworthy moments
I want to start off that I was actually very emotional at some moments during the show. First. it was I think Malcolm Brogdon's riveting speech about how being drafted in second round means nothing and that it's all about heart, then it came to the lifetime achievement award which deservedly went to the legend that is Bill Russell. He was way before my time but even I know what he has meant to basketball and even beyond. That moment when we had some of the best big men the NBA has ever seen all on stage to show their utmost respect for the myth that is Bill Russell. And then finally the Sager Stong award I think I speak for everyone who watched that it was an emotional moment that I shed a tear at.
Final thoughts
The awards show went smoothly and I think most of the winners were well deserved. The presentation was good, the jokes were okay and the night was fun.
First impressions
I really enjoyed the show...there were a lot of ummm onions in my house. The Bill Russell Award, the Sager Strong award AND...which totally surprised me was Russell Westbrook's speech. WOW...I didn't know he had any other emotion other than anger and annoyance. But man he really let down his guard down and showed a more human side. Things like that endear fans to you. It did to me. Way to go Russ! Rooting for you!
Man, I was really tearing up at that Sager strong award, it was so emotional. Russell Westbrook gained a lot of new fans last night I'm sure he is human after all!!!
Totally agree on Russ gaining more respect from that! We all know his crazy competitive side, but it was nice to see that side of him too. He's a beast!

Good job great post you have my upvote @mannyfig1956
I agree with most of your post. Good job overall. Thanks for posting about this event!!
My 0.02c:
ROY: I thought Brogdon's speech was great however I felt Dario Saric or even Joel Embiid deserved the award a bit more than Malcolm. That ROY award was given to the Bucks making the playoffs more so the best rookie statistically, imo.
DPOY: Draymond Green is a great player and I'm glad he got an award but he wasn't the DPOY. This was another award that went to a better team accomplishment rather looking at actual stats.
COTY: I maybe a bit bias when it comes to the coach of the year. I felt Coach Spo did a lot more with less than Mike D'antoni did with Fear the Beard. HE basically cloned his old Steve Nash/Phx Suns approach with Harden and BOOM POW, that worked out great. Congrats to the Rockets and their accomplishments this year but overall they definitely had a better supporting cast around coach Mike than Coach Spo had in Miami.
MVP: The way I feel about MVP is how that person makes their team better. Lebron James or even Kawhi Leonard in San Antonio deserved MVP. However, I cannot discount the facts and stats that Russ put up an average triple/double the whole season which had me in awe.
So this year, Russ deserved the MVP award based on his stats alone. Which wasn't the case for the ROY or DPOY (both not based on stats).
Overall, much love for the NBA and I upvoted!
Cheers and Blessings!
Thanks for the comment I agree with you to the DPOY and the COTY but I feel that Brogdon really deserved the ROTY because he was a second round pick and was put in starting position early, Joel Embiid I feel was by far the best rookie but not of the year because hes wasn't even playing the whole year and well Saric was good but, I think Brogdon deserved it because well did anyone even know who he was when he got drafted.....
Nice writing man. I didn't get to see it so I got more perspective now.
Thanks for the comment, I will be making daily posts!!!
