Did you know?
There has been research and supporting evidence to show that there is a possibility that music taste, talent, affinity and appreciation is passed down in our genes?
Recently more research and funding has been put towards this study and the findings have been quite interesting.
I for one can personally vouch for this. My dad and mother are both huge music fans, they love listening to music. My dad also has experience playing music as well as DJing music, my mom is just a fan content listening to it but they both have a deep passion for it just like me. Music is my world and has been pretty much since birth. I'd much rather enjoy listening to it 24/7 but I also have experience playing in a band (in school and in my 20s) - and I love DJing and generally can match an audience tastes pretty good.
My son is the same way and has had an understanding and addiction to music that almost gives me a run for my money, but I will always bet all-in that I am the biggest fan out of us all (all meaning, my family).
My son's biological father also had a deep passion for music and experience playing it, music was as close to him as it was to me basically.
However, on the flip-side, the Dad my son has known his entire life is not his biological father (long-story), and he had parents who weren't that keen about music. Sure, they liked music but it wasn't something they really had a passion for and it was really a rare occasion to hear music playing in the background of his home when he was growing up. Music in his Dad's family was reserved more for 'special occasions'. His dad also didn't have much passion for listening to music and would rather watch the news or go to a movie - music was played from the car stereo but once we'd get home, he wouldn't give music a second thought.
Myself - I'd choose to listen to music over any other 'background' casual activity for the day.. I'd choose music instead of watching Television or going to a movie. Heck, I even sold the TV and bought a large stereo system when my son's Dad moved out after our breakup - something you'd never find his Dad or grandparents on that side do, sell the Televison!
So, I truly believe 'music' and how deep it 'moves you' is definitely made up in your genes and a large part of who you are and who your children will be. It's natural instead of something that's 'raised into you'.
But feel free to do your own research
