If you want a solid day of site seeing in Kuala Lumpur, here is a quick trip guide to help you make the most out of your day in and around the city. Two of the most renowned sites around Kuala Lumpur include the great engineering feat known as the Petronas Twin Towers and a renowned site of pilgrimage for Hindus known as the Batu Caves. If you are a savvy traveler, with a little insight and a bit of conviction you can see both sites in one day. Below are a few links to help you plan your day of site seeing in KL. But first I will provide a short tutorial on how to plan your day.
First of all, when booking your tickets for the Petronas Towers it is recommended to get tickets at least a day prior to the day you plan to go. You can do this by visiting the site before the day you actually plan to ascend to the top of the towers. This is not a bad idea as there is a local mall nearby with a few decent local spots for food and a walking street nearby with knick knacks and more food. On the other hand you can visit the official website and choose the exact time you would like to visit. Also, choosing an early morning or late afternoon/evening option is best to make the most out of your day. And don’t forget to check ahead of time for official holidays.
When preparing to depart for the Batu Caves be sure to dress respectfully and appropriately prepared for the weather. An umbrella is recommended for both hot and rainy days. Early morning or mid-afternoon, make your way to the KL Sentral Railway Station via taxi or MRT. There you can study the map and find the Batu Caves railway station where tickets can be purchased from the KTM Komuter line. The KL Sentral Railway Station is a marvel all on its own so take some time and take a look around and enjoy yourself. Also, as you arrive at the Batu Caves site you will notice that there are many stalls for food and souvenirs. Take advantage of this opportunity to support the local community and try some new foods or buy something fun. Always carry extra cash as the local RM fluctuates in value and the prices may have changed due to outdated cost posts.
