5 months on Hive - Bumper update on my goals, progress and finances!

in #beatzchain3 years ago

For the previous update on my Hive and Hive finances goals and progress check out:
https://peakd.com/musicforlife/@tdctunes/4-months-on-hive-update-and-goals-for-january-and-for-2022

I've been on Hive 5 months now... and I hope you've got a coffee because this is a super detailed update on where I'm at with my goals - both for the last month and looking at progress against my goals for all of 2022!

Finances Update

So as you'll see below - my Hive Power is still enjoying steady growth due to keeping up posting, commenting and participating in power up days and power up months.

My weekly earnings are back up again from a low last month. Some notes on what's changed:

  1. I dialled down my playing of @risingstargame in early January as I found I was getting a bit too obsessive about it! However I kept doing the millionaire mission and have since added back in 2-3 big missions per day so I've re-added it to my reporting - especially since I also released this is one of my best ways of generating regular income! I seem to have found a happy balance now and seem to be able to generate about 15,000 Starbits a day based on being level 70, with 700 cards, 47,000 fans and 1 million Starbits on Hive engine for the millionaire mission.
  2. I've been posting and commenting pretty intensely due to power up months plus really trying to increase my engagement. So post rewards are looking great.
  3. Hive got cheaper again! This means that some of the things that generate income in other tokens (2nd layer, HBD) got more valuable when accounting (as I do) for everything in terms of Hive. This of course could easily reverse if (when?!) Hive goes back up.

Ok here's where I'm at compared to the previous two months:

Notes:
1 I didn't record a figure for Rising Star income for early January, though I was still running the millionaire mission most days.
2 I've now split out Utopis, Sim and BXT earnings as these 3 seem to be the best 2nd layer tokens I've found for passively generating liquid Hive.
3 This is an estimate for the Hive generated per week from my DHedge, Archon and Income holdings. DHedge and Archon generate a tiny bit of liquid hive (though it all adds up) but are of course generating me various other 2nd layer tokens - I'm currently not recording the value of those in terms of my income but it probably amounts to another couple of Hive per week. Income is something I'm new to and only bought a very small amount - it does pay liquid Hive but it's based on a draw rather than being a regular drip. So far I think I've seen 0.05 Hive come from it about 3 times per week so we will see over the next month how that performs.

Goals Update

From last time my goals were:

  • Post another update in February!
    Here it is!

  • Complete Hive Power Up Month - #HivePUM for January 2022
Yes! Done - and I'm sure this has really helped me to focus on both building both my Hive Power and my reputation through posting and/or powering up every day. I also did #HivePUD in both January and February, plus #HivePUH for both too!

  • Run a giveaway (on Hive).

I've experimented with running 3 different giveaways/competitions as follows:

  1. A Hive Basic Income giveaway in return for pre-saving my new track or a much bigger one for pre-ordering it on cassette. This got ZERO takers! Absolutely none whatsoever! Maybe Hive Basic Income seems a bit too abstract and people don't get it? Or maybe people just saw this offer as too much like me trying to sell something? Or maybe they are just really against pre-saving or pre-ordering. I'm not totally sure but obviously that offer is one that didn't work. I do still think HBI is a good thing. I've got 127 units right now and that seems to mean I get a vote of 0.047 on all my posts (I post on average once per day). The thing is - that's FOR LIFE - which seems great to me! So I don't think I'm done yet with using HBI as a potential giveaway or prize (just not for a pre-save/pre-order next time!)
  2. 1 $PIZZA in return for signing up for my email newsletter. It seemed to me that this was WAY less generous than the previous offer and I didn't expect much from it, and yet 3 people took me up on it! Awesome!
  3. Guess the number of cables I have for my modular competition. The prize for this is a copy of the cassette mixtape my new track is on PLUS a refurbished Sony Walkman to play it on. Now I think this is a pretty great prize and hopefully a fun competition to enter too so this one is doing pretty well with 14 participants so far. I had planned this competition for some time as part of this release and was going to run it on Instagram/Twitter as well but when it came to it I thought - nah... I'm just going to run it on Hive! This one is STILL running and you have till 12:00 UTC Friday to enter if you didn't already! Let's see if we can get nearer to 20 participants!

ENTER THE COMPETITION TO WIN THE BELOW PRIZE >>

Prize for the closest guess of the number of patch cables I have for my modular!

I think I've probably only scratched the surface for competitions and giveaways. I've never done these things before on any platform so I likely have a lot to learn about what works and what doesn't work. So watch out for some more experiments from me in this area - and let me know which are good and which are not so good!

  • Make some improvements to my completely passive income sources.

I've put quite a bit of thought into this in the last month and in particular have increased/bought:

  • My holdings in the various @hive.pizza Diesel Pools. There are other pools but the PIZZA ones tend to have really excellent APRs and I like the PIZZA community and everything going on there!
  • BRO, UTOPIS, DHEDGE, ARCHON, BXT and INCOME. Not all drip liquid Hive but they all seem to bring something to the table in terms of passive income.

Next Goals for February

I'm going to be away for a significant portion of February, and am probably going to have a good break from posting/online activity so I expect things to dip a fair bit again for next time. I think that's ok - a holiday is needed sometimes! So my goals are going to be taking that into account:

  • Continue gradually building my HP

  • Continue gradually building my passive earning HE tokens and (importantly) understanding them and their relative pros and cons!

  • Have a break from posting when I'm on holiday later this month! (you see - I've given myself permission to have a rest!)

  • Post another update in March

Progress against goals for 2022

  • Increase my Hive Power to 10,000HP

With the drop in Hive price recently I managed to pick up a fair bit of Hive at what seemed like "cheap" prices. Because of this I'm looking in good shape to meet this goal. I will go slowly and consider carefully what to power up and when vs. investing in other HE tokens but currently it looks like I'll be able to grow my HP steadily this year and sitting at 6556 HP already in early February this goal is looking easier than it did in January!

  • Increase my followers to 250

This is also looking pretty achievable, hopefully ahead of schedule as I'm on 175 already. I don't think followers are the be all and end all on Hive and I'm not hung up on this number particularly. I mainly picked this goal because I wanted to give myself the extra encouragement to make a lot of effort with engagement. And indeed I have been making more effort at engaging with others posts/comments - which brings so many more benefits than (potentially) more followers.

  • Weekly earnings of 100 Hive

On the face of it this seems pretty in reach with my current weekly earnings sitting at 89.4 Hive.

However, that was after a month of making extra effort at posting and engaging and with the price of Hive "low". I could be a lot busier with other things in future months and the Hive price could easily go up significantly (affecting the value of other earnings when put in Hive terms).

So, this could easily go back down to 20-30 Hive per week where it was in January. I think there is a long way to go to get this number "secure" (maybe that's not even possible?). We will see in the coming months!

Thanks and Shout-outs

Big hi and shout-out to @cathgothard - fellow Brit and Londoner and taker of some truly beautiful photography (I especially like the fog ones!).

A big friendly hello and giant dose of respect for the @beatzchain community! Especially @polarmystro and @ravenmus1c - thanks to you guys it always feels super welcoming and friendly in the Discord. If you're a musician or into music get on over there and join!

As every - big respect and love for @stickupboys for so so many things - not least getting me onto Hive in the first place, but especially most recently for being an amazing supporter of my live stream and even doing some awesome STARBITS giveaways during them. A massive massive "Stick Up" thanks to you:

Finally a gigantic shout-out to @ambrosechappel - who's become a lot more active recently posting his fantastic art and other fresh content on Hive. Ambrose created the amazing Astronaut for my recent Traveller's Path release - I love it and am looking forward to working with him again in future! Did you know that Ambrose is also a really fantastic music producer?! Check him out on Spotify here:

Thanks loads for reading my update - would love to hear how your year is going so far now we are over a month in? Are you sticking to any plans you had for Hive engagement or finances?

Have a great day Hive!

Sort:

It’s funny that a bunch of the comments are the bots being summoned lol.

These are some awesome goals and progress man! Shit, I’m sad and surprised I haven’t seen you around yet! I vaguely recall on a music post somewhere I might have seen your name but can’t remember. In any case though, I’ve tacked on another follower for you! It seems you’re doing awesome and have some really good mindset for hive. One of the things to keep in mind is to also make sure you’re having fun with it. If you make it to calculating and all that, it loses its luster quickly. Keep it light and it’s great!

The basic income shares are awesome, I’ve run a contest or two in the past and I know some people don’t know what it’s about while others think it’s spam and promotes some reward pool BS. I don’t get bothered by that shit, it’s a cool program and it disperses rewards to lots of people.

If you think this price is a steal, I’m sad you missed hive at .11¢! That was a really tough low but a lot of people bought a bunch. All good though, you’re here now and taking advantage of the awesome shit that goes on here!

I’ll give your music a listen for sure. I love electronic stuff, @nickyhavey has some great stuff. I wonder what it is with people from England making awesome electronic music lol. I think Blackmill, one of my favorite electronic artists is from England or Scotland. Cool shit!

Haha yeah the bots are going nuts with all these tipping tokens! I like the tipping tokens though - it's a nice way to say an extra thanks/well done/appreciation. I think the @hive.pizza team have done a great job with theirs where it just puts one comment per post and then updates that one comment with any additional !PIZZA tips on that post rather than a comment for every single one.

Anyway - thanks for the kind words and encouragement and for the follow!

Great tip about keeping it fun and light - my personality is one where I can tend to take things a bit seriously so it's something I try and keep in mind (in all of life, not just hive).

Ah yeah that's why I put "cheap" in commas - it's all relative! $0.11 would be amazing!!!

Thanks also for checking out my music! Yes - I know @nickyhavey through Electronic Music Alliance - of which he is one of the founders. I met @stickupboys there too who got me started on Hive and also @gribbles and @tygertyger - some cool people there - and hopefully we can get more onto Hive soon!

!PIZZA !BEER

Thanks for the shoutout!

You are still making great progress. Not many people get to dolphin to quickly and you are way past that now.

I have not got into all the investment options on Hive, but I'm happy enough with how I am doing. I was lucky to get into Splinterlands a while back, so I earn from that. I do really well from Rising Star, but I just buy more cards.

I hope we will see some big moves in Hive this year in terms of recognition and user numbers. I still think music can be a big part of that. We have lots of musicians and need to get more of their fans on board with exclusive content. The fans can be earning too.

!PIZZA !LUV

Thanks @steevc!

Definitely hope Hive will get bigger this year. I think it's still quite a manual process of encouraging people to join as the signup/barrier to entry is high. But we will get there!

!PIZZA !LUV

Hey @tdctunes! Thanks for the shout out, and for the lovely words about my photos. It is very kind of you.

I just entered your 'guess the number of wires' competition. The prize looks very cool! And now that the question has been presented, I'm actually really looking forward to learning how many wires you actually own... :)

Great update as always. I'm going to have to look up what Hive Drips are now. :)

!PIZZA

I always enjoy your photos - I would have no idea how to go about taking anything that good!

Thanks for entering my competition!

Drips are just little bit of regular tokens that you get, usually by holding or staking another token. I guess they are called drips because they are small but keep dripping in (so do add up!)

An example is SIM. I'm currently holding 900,000 SIM on Hive Engine and I get about 0.27 Hive 'dripped' to my liquid Hive balance every day for doing so.

And I always enjoy your music. However, I suspect you would be much more capable of taking a good photo, than I would be of playing improvised music on a modular music machine. 😆

0.27 daily Hive really mounts up! Your monthly updates are always an education... :)

Have some !PIZZA 😀

Relatively new here and clearly so much to dig into. Thank so much for sharing all this. I’m set up for my weekly research topics now 🙂 Amazing work 🖖

Glad it was some help! I'm not expert at all of this but if you have any questions about any of it just fire away (as even if I don't know the answer it's likely something I want to know to and we can figure it out together!)

Have a great day!

!PIZZA

.

Thanks so much!

!PIZZA

You've really gone all guns blazing since you joined, glad you're enjoying yourself here and having fun with it all!

Cheers @nickyhavey - now we just need to get a few more to join!

Just goes to show that the best source of generating hive is from POSTING!

Thanks for sharing the info and pointers ...I know it's hard to learn everything as a noob... I'm still learning every day and over been here almost two years now🦥

And I would have pre ordere( Whatever that means) on Spotify...but I don't have spotify... Although I think my lady does so I could probably figure out how to enter... Basic income is pretty great, Especially if you got some back when hive was cheap!

Fair enough! I'm not actually that bothered about Spotify pre-saves or listens. It's not like Spotify generates me (or almost any musicians) any worthwhile income. I guess it's just one example of a way people can show support, but I think there are better ways (even the newsletter signup was more popular!) so I'll be exploring other giveaways/offers soon. I have some NFTs on Hive for example that I may use as giveaways or prizes.

Good feedback about Basic income though - I will definitely keep in mind to use it again. In fact I'm gonna send you 1 Basic Income Unit right now to say thanks for the feedback! (I mean we both benefit from it, for life right - everyone's a winner!)

Big thanks for your thoughts!!!

!PIZZA

Yeah that's fun... I've always wanted to do a contest of some sort-I've had a few ideas but we shall see!

I enter this pun contest every week, and I stacked up a bunch from that... But this dude has serious sbi -like thousands.. Would have been nice to stock up like that back then

oh - that's nice you've been able to build up some SBI/HBI. I guess I'm quite late to the game (to Hive) really. But then in a years time people who are joining will think I'm an old timer and wish they got in when I did so it's all subjective.

I'll keep an eye out for your contest - feel free to tag me to make sure I don't miss it!

!PIZZA

Yeah, I've been here longer than you and your account eclipses mine, so no one is beyond catching up to at this point...well, you know, within reason.. There are some pretty big bee\whale hybrids out there, buzzing and swimming around this place

Yup - don't think I'm becoming a whale any time ever unless I sell my house, my car, my pension and probably my Mum!

Here you go!

Screenshot (355).png

Yeah posting does seem to be the winner for me at the moment. I think it's from engagement as well though - if I didn't comment/engage with others I think less people would know me and I'd get less interests (and votes) on my posts.

As I say I'm trying hard to grow the passive side to supplement it.

Oh I should also say - I'm definitely NOT an expert! There are people much more experienced on Hive and in Crpyto than me. I'm just sharing what seems to be working for me right now. Obviously there is some risk with all these things - which is why I'm spreading it around various projects and tokens.

Awesome my friend
Very detailed post about your goals
Wishing you tons of success in your new goals

My year has been pretty good so far just taking things slow enjoying the journey. @tdctunes

Wow how where you able to get so much HP in such a short time? I am here for a long time and still dont even have 400 HP.. :D

Happy that you like it in Beatzchain!! :) !PIZZA

I've been posting, curating, playing rising star and investing in 2nd layer tokens pretty intensely since I started.

But honestly a fair chunk has come from just buying it. I had some BNB left on an exchange a few years ago when it was worth peanuts and when I checked after joining Hive it was actually worth a bit - so that's how I got started. And then I've been topping it up buying with fiat when I think the Hive price is low.

I figure in general the price is going to be on an upward trend so better to get in now than later. My general plan is that I probably won't buy any more (unless the price does a huge dip) from here on.

Thanks for explaining! Really nice! :)
Yeah I bought some Hive the last months too, but all invested in games or swap pools. I think it will be worth it. Even if only one of these games will go up, then it will be really nice. :)

Ah yes - it's of course a tricky one to know where to invest between the pools, staking 2nd layer tokens, games or just powering up Hive. I have no idea the 'right' balance but I'm taking the general investment guideline of spreading it around various places. Not so many that I don't have a clue about the projects or why I'm doing it. But not so few that if one project failed it would wipe out all my investment either.

What games have you invested in?

!PIZZA

Why did that dude downvote your message?!

Well yeah, all this Hive stuff there is so much to learn about! I don´t really feel as if I have a clue what I´m doing here. :D

Apart from Rising Star, I invested in Midgard Clash on Wax, and in Doctor Who Worlds Apart and in Chifibots. But this is not online yet. I guess it will come in March. Excited about this one. :)

Why did that dude downvote your message?!

ohh it's just anddumbcunts - someone told me he just downvotes loads of posts and comments completely randomly and not to worry about him. So I muted him ages ago so didn't even notice the downvote till you pointed it ou!

Well yeah, all this Hive stuff there is so much to learn about! I don´t really feel as if I have a clue what I´m doing here. :D

Indeed! And I hate not understanding stuff - which is why I've been on a bit of a mission to get my head round it all. It'll be an ongoing process for sure - but I feel a bit more confident every month.

Apart from Rising Star, I invested in Midgard Clash on Wax, and in Doctor Who Worlds Apart and in Chifibots. But this is not online yet. I guess it will come in March. Excited about this one. :)

Ah cool - interesting stuff - thanks for sharing!

!PIZZA

Oh ok. How stupid...

Yeah me too! I hate when I don´t have a clue about all what I want to know. But it´s almost impossible to catch up with everything here! But yeah as you say, every month you learn something new and feel a bit better. ;)

!PIZZA

Awesome info here! I've been playing around with the diesel pools for about a month now and I'm still trying to get the ropes. I've figured out how to get the BXT Drip but how do you get the Utopis and Sim drips? Is it just staking?
Also, where does one find his HBI units? I swear I have been in HBI since it was SBI but I lost track of it somewhere.
I love your giveaways, I think I'll pop over to the Walkman one and see what that's all about.
Keep it up!

Hey! Thanks so much for stopping by and asking some great questions!

For drips - it depends!

For SIM, you just need to hold them in your Hive Engine wallet (the staking function isn't enabled for SIM). I have 900,000 and am currently getting about 0.27 Hive DAILY from it.

For Utopis, it's a WEEKLY rather than DAILY drip. And you get that weekly payout for just holding it, but you get a bit of an extra bonus for staking it!

I have about 457 Utopis (all staked) and my most recent payout was 1.28 Hive with an extra bonus 0.160 Hive for having it staked.

With any of these be aware that any of the token owners could change their rules/payouts at any time. SIM for example recently cut their payouts (though it's still good). So it's sensible to keep up to date with them.

I'm still pretty new at this so definitely do your own research - but those are the figures I'm finding working for me.

Yes! HBI/SBI is hard to find! I look for it in PEAKD by going to the PEAKD wallet, then going down to the "Others" button. That shows me how many units I have and allows me to issue/sponsor someone with more if I want to.

Thanks for your feedback re: giveaways - there will definitely be more coming and good luck with the walkman/cassette/cable counting one!

Sweet, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for my drips as I have both tokens. And I'll definitely be looking around my Peakd wallet for whatever it can tell me about my hbi standings.

Cool - out of interest - let me know what your HBI balance is? There may be some minimum balances on some tokens before they start paying drips - if you don't see any check with the project owners.

Have a great day and some !PIZZA

Apparently it's 4 units but I delegated some hp to them and numbed it up some. Oddly enough when I did that I got my first Upvote from them in quite some time. It was like they had forgotten about me lol

It's completely automatic, but it's possible that your delegation increased your accrual rate by enough that it triggered your next upvote right away.

Oh I believe it's the following actually:

!sbi status

Hi @tdctunes!

  • you have 129 units and 0 bonus units
  • your rshares balance is 107877902934 or 0.161 $
  • your next SBI upvote is predicted to be 0.054 $

Structure of your total SBI vote value:

  • 94.50 % has come from your subscription level
  • 0.00 % has come from your bonus units
  • 0.00 % has come from upvoting rewards
  • 0.00 % has come from new account bonus or extra value from pre-automation rewards

No longer active on Steem? Convert your Steem SBI into Hive SBI.
    See our FAQ for details!

oh I see - I honestly imagine it must be completely automatic - but I think if you have a small amount it will wait a while before upvoting you again. You can also see your balance by typing !sbi in a comment I think (lets see if I got it right!)

From what I found it's !sbi status

Impressive progress and attainable goals are all looking good. I've picked up on a few things here I didn't know about. Diesel pools - I am having a look at that ;-)

Definitely have a look at the @hive.pizza pools - here's the info (source: The FAQ in the PIZZA Discord):

How do I join the Diesel Pool?

  • Go to TribalDex
  • Click POOLs at the top
  • Click Add Liquidity
  • Choose your PIZZA pool (type pizza in the searchbar)
  • Add equal dollar amounts of both tokens in the pair (both are required)
  • Add the liquidity
  • Check "My Positions" tab to see what your daily payouts are estimated to be at that time
  • You can check the payout time by clicking here and finding your pool. Click Details.
Note: You will miss the following day of rewards after depositing tokens. Only deposit once a week to minimize missed rewards.

NB: Personally I'm doing it via: https://beeswap.dcity.io/swap?pools because there is a little bit more information in that interface.

Got it working thanks only with small amounts but will tweak from there

Nice - good luck with it!

Congrats on the progress - I'm still getting to grips with Hive, I only found it recently and I'm already spread quite thin across a bunch of other crypto projects, but I'm really digging the power of written word on the platform. If ever there was a decent incentive to do more writing…

It's great to see what other people are doing and where to put some focus. I have at least got up and running with Rising Star and starting to build up a card collection, but clearly a way to go before I'm in the millionaires club!
