Last week i left Bangkok city , no not to go home to my home country my company gave me two choices go back home to Australia or stay in Thailand well seeing that i wasn't going to like the lock down in the city of Sydney been cooped up in a apartment with only city views so i took option 2 and decided to stay in Thailand why because i wanted to see more of Thailand's islands.
One of my friends who i work with was already on the island of Koh Samui and he was telling me it was the perfect place to be away from the big city with no one to bother you , i had a idea that the island would be deserted because no tourist coming over with all boarders closed , so i would be like Tom Hanks in the Cast Away movie just perfect a whole island to my self.
So i hired a car and drove from Bangkok city to Surat Thani province a 10 hour drive put my car on the ferry and of to my isolation bungalow on Koh Samui island a 2 hour ferry ride across the Gulf of Thailand and a one hour drive to my bungalow but a worth while trip and here i will stay for a few weeks.
Crossing the Gulf of Thailand felt like i was the only person at sea normally the ferry would be almost full and the waters would be crowded with ferries going up and down transporting tourist to the many other islands around the Gulf of Thailand but not today.
As we were approached Koh Samui island the skies were beautiful and blue you could smell the fresh air but you could see it was very quite around all ferries at stand still and a couple of locals swimming on the beach.
Been on the island now for five days and i feel really safe and comfortable doing my morning walks and runs on the beach and have only seen a handful full of people on the beach which suites me fine. Normally Koh Samui island is packed with westerns that have escaped the winters from Europe.
I met up with my friend who is also a project manager in the hotel industry like me , he asked me if i wanted to stay in this luxury 4 story house as it was empty and has no booking because of the crisis of this Coronavirus.
My friend told me it would be free to stay in this house the owner just wanted someone staying in the house so it could be left open to air out and as a security purpose but even though it was free for me it was to far from the beach and supermarkets which were still operating besides i already had a beautiful bungalow on the beach front with everything i needed in walking distance , given to me by the company free of charge for as long as i wanted but it was very tempting.
Normally this house would be booked out all year round it has 8 individual living spaces like a small studio with all the mod cons with a huge kitchen , bathroom living area and bedroom in each studio.
Each room had a different design if you preferred European , French , Italy or Thai style you could have that choice and each room had the most amazing ocean views.
The house was divide in the middle by a staircase and elevator giving you excess to all the rooms.
The European style room was my favorite nice and bright with simply colors.
The Asian style room was quite beautiful with all the Asian painting and Buddha statues.
Well it's very unlikely that i would ever get a offer like that again but i was happy with my little manageable bungalow on the beach with my amazing sunsets to look at every evening on this peaceful beach front.

So i hired a car and drove from Bangkok city to Surat Thani province a 10 hour drive put my car on the ferry and of to my isolation bungalow at Ang Thong Marine Park in Koh Samui a 2 hour ferry ride across the Andaman sea and a 30 minute drive to my bungalow but a worth while trip and here i will stay for a few weeks.
Just letting you know - It's the gulf of Thailand, not the Andaman sea, and Angthong marine park is not koh Samui. (it's an hour or two away from Koh Sam.).
Thanks for pointing that out i was thinking of something else at the time 👍
That's how you lockdown haha! Make the most of the free accommodation, sounds...well... Exactly how you said it, paradise!
Thank you @nickhavey i couldn't have describe it better then a paradise and i am certainly making the best of it and lots of fresh fruit to live of on this island 😊
Looks like a really nice place. I hope food is not going to be a problem.
It really is and so fresh and peaceful. All supermarkets and 7/11 are open plus lots of vendors still selling fruits and BBQ chicken no shortage of foods here 👍
That's good.
Hope you are staying safe and healthy over there 😊
Thanks. We are all trying to manage.
We do the best we can buddy 👍
That looks like an ideal spot to spend the lock down! Stay well! ❤️
It certainly is and i can still keep working out safely 👍
We are both very lucky compared to much of the world.
We definitely are 👍
