Menthe Fraîche by James Heeley is a unisex eau de parfum.
It is only available in an 100 ml/3.3 fl. oz. bottle.
Personally I'm a big fan of the minimalist presentation of all Heeley perfumes.
James Heeley describes this fragrance as:
A contemporary, ultra-fresh, natural scent. Crushed mint leaves, interwoven with just a hint of Sicilian bergamot, green tea and white cedar. A perfectly light, easy to wear fragrance. An olfactive interlude."
As you can probably guess, this one is all about mint.
Mint isn't an easy note to use in perfumes. It easily comes off as smelling like toothpaste or gum. Not here, what you get is a quite natural smelling mint.
Mint is also a very fleeting note meaning that longevity and projection is a problem for most mint based fragrances. This one is no exception although it doesn't perform too badly given it's natural composition.
So, why buy Menthe Fraîche? Well, on a very hot summers day the opening is simply to die for. It is so very cooling and refreshing!!
This refreshment however comes at a cost. The suggested retail price is 130 EUR. Looking for a more budget friendly mint based fragrance? In that case I suggest you check out "Herba Fresca" from the aqua allegoria line by Guerlain. Although also marketed as a unisex fragrance, I feel that "Herba Fresca" leans more towards the feminine side though.
Stay cool!
