Allow your hair breathe: hair growth tips

in #beauty6 years ago

Hello to all the beautiful ladies out there.
Let’s do a little chit-chat about our hair.

The human hair is one of the most important part of the human body as it plays a great role in accentuating ones beauty.

People from all over the world are endowed with different kinds of hair types and textures. I am from Nigeria which is in west Africa and we predominately have a 4c hair type.

The 4c hair type is characterized by coarse texture, shrinking length, almost always difficult to comb and forms into a fro most times.

The difficulty in hair maintenance most times drive us to getting weaves on most of the time and this practice is one of the ways to easily damage your hair.

Most times as ladies we get tired of putting on braids and weaves, we really want to rock our natural hair and flaunt its beauty but there is no beauty to flaunt really.

Personally I am guilty of poor hair maintenance practices which has adversely affected the growth and beauty of my natural hair.

I actually thought of doing a big chop but I realised cutting my hair isn’t the way out, I was bound to still exhibit poor hair maintenance practices and that’s more like going around in circles.

In recent times a lot of ladies have put in so much into research just to find out what works for the 4c hair type and interestingly findings have proved that having a healthy, long and beautiful 4c hair type is possible.

LOW MANIPULATION TIP
This is one of the easiest ways to maintain a naturally healthy hair but first of all what does it mean?
Hair manipulation is when you consistently style your hair daily or weekly.

Yes, most of us like to show off our fro, we try to style into different looks every day. Another example is braiding or fixing your hair weekly or bi-monthly without allowance for air into the scalp.

Now it’s pertinent to understand that our hair is a living part of our body and it needs oxygen too, not just that, it also needs protein and oils for nourishment.

If you have noticed your hair isn’t growing well or it has been breaking consistently, join me in the low manipulation hair growth treatment.

cornrows
TIPS:

  • Lock your hair into twists or cornrows, I actually prefer twists because it can still look beautiful when old
  • Get a wig if you’re not too comfortable going around with twist outs or cornrows
  • Oil and massage your hair daily or once in three days for the next two to three month
  • Deep condition your hair when you take out your twist outs or cornrows.

In another post, I would teach us about deep conditioning, meanwhile I did a video of me oiling and massaging my hair..

For me I used “Emily millionaire coconut oil and herbs alongside virgin hair fertilizer”, you can use any hair treatment products around your locality you are comfortable with.

Thanks for coming.

Hi @vheobong. I'm a fellow naturallysta who just came on board. I think every naturallysta should have a spray bottle for water, maybe a mini one for your purse and a much bigger one for your routine hair treatment.

Why is this?

The weather is really dusty and dry, and the 4C type hair is really "tangly" in nature, and in this dry weather, combing out your hair will cause it to break, as its all dry. But spraying water before combing out will help dampen the roots moisturize the strands and allow the comb to go through without breaking the strands off - at least not as much as it would without water.

Also finger detangling is way better than comb detangling. As often as possible, reduce the use of combs.

Tip 101:- I use castor oil to get my hair to its full form!

See ya!

I hardly comb out tho
I find the spray bottle really helpful also.

I appreciate your thoughts too.

I have never used castor oil on my hair, I have plans to do so soon.

Welcome on board
