Hi Markku. Didn't know that. There is always an angle and a reason for a country doing something nice. there has to be a benefit. love to know how many Jewish people stayed in Manchuria and are still descendants from the original batch today. Did 2 posts on land marks in Cape Town.

To my knowledge that settlement program did not get properly underway. Most of the Jewish refugees in Japanese controlled territories were in the Japanese sector of the International Settlement of Shanghai. Japan only closed doors when that sector became overcrowded. There were and continue to be very few Jewish people in the whole of China.

Not overly surprised.It would be hard to start a community from scratch. There is a massive language issue as well.One of my friends is Jewish and they are generally excellent at business.
