So a few weeks ago, me and my wife were relaxing downstairs in our house. It stays cooler down there-- and it's a place we like to go and hangout a few times a week, its nice to wind down from the day there sometimes and its darker down stairs too.
As we are sitting there reading book, and lounging on the couch. We suddenly hear something rumbling inside our fireplace-- and i mean sounds like this thing is dying or something.. It's banging back and forth from wall to wall, you can hear the sound of tin or a lighter metal of the chimney walls dinging, plus you can hear this animal screeching like crazy as well?
It was something, you usually hear when an animal is dying and taking it's last breath.
In the midst of all this commotion me and my wife look at each-other we a blank stare-- and she says' what the hell is that?
Believe me this is rare for me to hear as well, so i was like i don't know what the hell that is Either.
So after everything calms down- and the rest of the night winds down. We go to bed. The next-day after work is done, my wife can't help herself and goes and checks on what the hell we heard last night. She grabs a flashlight from the garage and heads down-stairs again to scoop out the chimney.
As she shines the light up the chimney and gets in position to take a look inside the chimney she hears hissing. (like a cat hissing, but much louder and deeper sounding).
So at this point she calls me and says we got an animal inside the chimney and we need to get it out.
That night we setup an appointment for a animal extraction company to come take a look and tell us what the "hell" we got in our fireplace.
The next day the animal extraction guy comes, takes a look with his flashlight up the chimney and also climbs on the roof, to get a better look what's inside from above. He also says the animal get's pissed off with him and he climbs down off the roof pretty quickly. He comes back inside and informs me and my wife, that we have a RACOON with babies living inside our fireplace. I think to myself. I guess That explains all the screeching and rumbling going on the night me and my wife heard the coon. She was having babies Duh. Then the animal guy says that Raccoons are very dangerous with little babies and carry lot's of disease so we need to get them out asap. Mind you all iv'e got little ones at home so that is defiantly the first plan of action.
So the following day the animal guy comes back with a trap. He walks the property and discovers the racoon is climbing up one side of my house. So that's where he sets up the trap.
Cat food is used to catch the coon.
View From Above.
The Trap is set....
Now that the trap is set, it's now a waiting game. Since this mother racoon has babies. The best way to get these animals out of my house, is to catch the mom and then go inside the fireplace and catch the babies.
To be Continued.
