Hello Steemit!
Today I got this beer. It was on sale, so I thought I'd give it a try.
This one is interesting. It's a tripel with 9.5% alcohol. What's interesting about it is the added chili.
When pouring it wasn't easy getting a foam layer as I like.
The taste isn't very strong. It's quite sweet, but aside from that, it doesn't taste like much.
Now to the chili. At first you can't taste it. Then, after taking a few more sips, it starts to softly burn in your throat.
The flavour of the chili starts to kick in as well, but it goes away if you stop drinking.
The colour, however, is very nice. The dark amber colour coupled with the soft carbonation is very soothing.
Now for the review. The chili in the beer is interesting, but it's not something I would personally go for. And I like chili and spicy food. The coupling with beer just doesn't feel right. The burning of the chili does mask the subtle alcohol feeling you sometimes get from beers with the alcohol percentage such as this. It's a bit sad that besides the chili, this beer doesn't have much to offer. I can't get over the chili flavour, and it does mask pretty much everything else.
It's only worth trying for the novelty of the chili. If you don't like spicy food, you are better off with something else.
Please leave a comment, especially if you have tasted it yourself.
