Sour Beer
It may sound strange, but sour beers are made by intentionally allowing wild yeast strains or bacteria into the brew, making them taste "sour."
Lagunitas Aunt Sally
I know a guy who knows a girl that that has a cousin that knows some Lagunitas secrets ;p. I've been lucky and have tried quite a few less-regular Lagunitas beer flavors recently. Today's surprise was their Aunt Sally, dry-hopped, sweet tart, sour mash ale.
I'm a fan of sour beers and had no idea that Lagunitas made one. I like everything they brew and this is no exception. It tastes sweet, tart, and sassy, just like the cherry pie that your favorite aunt makes.
Ever tried a sour beer? What's your favorite?
I love a good sour beer, Aunt Sally is a reasonable sour, but there are better choices out there. What most of the beers from from Almanac Brewing come to mind - Dogpatch Sour is an amazing beer.
I totally agree. Lagunitas calls it their "gateway sour." It's not my favorite, but I'm a big fan of the brewery and I support their attempt at a sour. I'm going to check out Dogpatch, I don't think I've tasted that one yet.
@harveyword have you tried their imperial coffee stout? what you think?
