Chinese Braai in South Africa, and_________ Beer!!
IMG_4800.jpg
On Friday a few of our friends decided to have a Chinese Braai. I don't know if the Chinese people braai, but here in South Africa we call this way of braaiing Chinese Braai. As you know by now, when we braai we have beer, and this time I had a Rooibok Lager, from Darling Brewery. The Rooibok is a small antelope that is found in South Africa. Below you can see that the beer comes in a 330ml bottle with an alcohol content of 5.1%.
IMG_4807.jpg
Look at the beautiful graphics on the label, depicting a rooibok - Great!! I love the stubby bottle shape!!
IMG_4808.jpg
This lager just pours beautiful, with a nice white head and a beautiful color, with nice carbonation, just see the tiny bubbles!!
IMG_4814.jpg
Just look at that fluffy head - nice!!
IMG_4819.jpg
Now lets get to the Chinese Braai!! The friend of mine converted a stainless steel, double wash basin into a braai - genius!!
IMG_4824.jpg
The Chinese Braai is almost like stir-fry, but on a fire. Below you can see some of the ingredients, which basically is meat and veggies, with some sauces thrown into the mix!!
IMG_4825.jpg
Basically, you just throw the hole lot together and then mix them together while braaiing on a steel plate. When all is cooked we dish it up with some rice and enjoy!!

My grand dad used to say one cannot stand on one leg the entire day, thus now it was time for the second beer to wash down the amazing meal!! The next beer was the Firebird IPA, which seemed like a very good choice with all the braaiing going on.
IMG_4826.jpg
The beer comes in a 340ml bottle and has 4.25% alcohol. The beer was inspired by the Firebird which is an American automotive legend!! The beer is brewed by the Redrock Brewing company in Johannesburg, South Africa.
IMG_4827.jpg
It pours with a nice color and a beautiful white head!!
IMG_4831.jpg
The next two photos were taken with a burning candle behind the beer, bringing out an amazing glow in the beer!!
IMG_4841.jpg
The Firebird tasted good, albeit a bit lighter than the Rooibok. I really enjoyed both beers a lot.
IMG_4843.jpg
I would love to know if there is any Chinese people reading this, if they actually do something like this, or is it just a name us South Africans gave to this way of preparing food!!

I took these photos with my iPhone, at a friends home, in Pretoria, in the Gauteng Province of South Africa.

I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I did taking it.

Hmmm not familiar with the term braai. Time to be curious and check.

Braai is just Barbecue, in my language, Afrikaans, but in South Africa everybody uses this word no matter what language they speak. (We have 11 official languages)
