Yup, Disneyland is Getting a Brewpub

in #beer7 years ago

You read that right Steemians - Disneyland is getting a brewpub.

Where else in the world can you visit the Star Wars universe and grab a beer next door? Only in Disneyland.

One of the most popular microbreweries in the country, Ballast Point, will open a brewpub up at the Happiest Place on Earth later this year.

Ok, granted, it's not in the park itself - it's in the Downtown Disney District, a self-described "lively promenade featuring distinctive eateries, unique shops and exciting entertainment." It's a more adult friendly place - with a jazz club, booze-serving bowling alley, jewelry shops - you get the picture.

The actual Disneyland Park doesn't allow alcohol - keeping with the tradition of founder Walt Disney's desire to see a different type of amusement park where alcohol wasn't a key component to the fun (it was commonplace for biergardens to be onsite at parks in the 1950s, for example).

It's also where the very cool Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID immersion experience takes place - making the new Ballast Point brewpub a primo place to decompress after channeling your inner Jedi.

The new 7,300 square foot brewery includes a tasting room, bar, and outdoor beer garden. There will be 100 beers on tap.

Foodwise, they'll be serving San Diego-inspired cuisine including eco-friendly fish tacos (line caught) and old school brewpub fare like soft pretzels. There will also be plenty of gluten-free and kid-friendly options.

How did this all come about? It turns out Disney approached Ballast Point, which sells beer at some of the various venues owned by Disney in the Los Angeles-area.

I don't know about you, but after a long day of fun in the sun - and all those kids running around - a pint of beer and a soft pretzel sounds pretty darn good. Cheers!

wow, you almost had me with the title, but i thought "they would never do that". Downtown Disney makes total sense though. Have you been to the Ballast Point satellite location in Seal Beach, right on the water? its been a big success since it opened there.

Ha! This journalist had a clickbait title moment! You caught me! LOL. I have not been to the Seal Beach location yet. I'll check it out. Looks beautiful from what I googled.

Nice place traveling 👍

Cheers, have you been to Disneyland?

No i don't

I thought they sold beer at the world showcase pavilions. Man, my memory is getting foggy. Interesting they chose Ballast Point. Good call, though.

That's at Epcot right? Yeah they do sell it at Epcot. But "Disneyland" they don't. So if you go to the tea cup ride there is no beer...but walk to Epcot and beer!

Nice. It has been a few years...My memory isn't what it used to be. Glad it is not failing completely!
