Drinkers Review:

This is my least favourite from the James Squire range of beers. Why? Well it's just a bland macro-brewed Golden Ale. Compared to the other big Aussie macro-lagers (think VB and Tooheys New), this beer is like heaven, but in reality it is a beer that you drink when it's free. I have been known, on occasion, to use this beer to put out a campfire. Once it is warm it doesn't taste too dissimilar to dog's piss!!
It pours a beautiful golden colour, but smells like the floor of the local pub, a noxious mix of stale ale, yeast re-fermenting and rotting vegetable. It's not as unappealing as you would expect but it's certainly not winning any awards any time soon.
If you have nothing else to drink, or the only other options are those well known Aussie macro-lagers, then this would be my go to beer. But, if I have a choice, this would be the last James Squire brew I would pick off the shelf.

That looks like an accurate assessment to me. Rubbish beer made by a rubbish macro brewery.

I’ve been disappointed by these beers a few times and completely agree that they are best used for putting out fires and fertilising garden beds.

I really enjoyed the hop thief and I found the 150 Lashes wasn't bad (especially right after choking through the cardboard sandwich like McCracken Amber Ale..) but the Mid River? Wow, that was a chore to drink.
Maybe I caught a bad batch but it literally left a bad taste in my mouth.

It's pretty hit and miss with James Squire I find. Anyway, ripper read as usual :)

Nice review 👍 Agree with you, not my favorite JS beer 🍺
