Well guys it's been hot these last couple of weeks here in Colorado. Even with the swamp cooler on high all day I can barely get it down to 75°F inside during the hot hours. So I guess that leaves me with 2 options. 1) Sit inside and dwell on how hot it is and think about how high my electric bill will be from running the swamp cooler or 2) invite the family over for a BBQ and eat some good food and drink some good beer well I choose...
There is nothing better then a good family BBQ to forget about the heat. So I got a list of what everyone wanted and what they were bringing and I went to the store and started cooking. Here was what was on the menu.
Food: chocolate cake, carne asada tacos, beer brats, thin pork chops, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans and a veggie tray
Beer: 12 packs of Budweiser, bud light, miller light and for me a mix pack from Odell brewing in Fort Collins Colorado.
I made some very simple recipes for the cookout. The burgers were the 80/20 beef with some salt pepper and garlic in it and the pork chops were marinaded in pineapple juice garlic and onion and then I rubbed some jerk seasoning on them.
And I will post a recipe for the cake a little later. All and all the BBQ went great. Everyone enjoyed the food and in the end those craft beer haters ended up drinking half of my craft beer lol. So it felt good to get them interested in something different then the mainstream beers. And of course the night ended with all of us sitting around a fire and a pack of marshmallows and sticks for the kids.
Thank you everyone for taking time to read this and I hope you have a great day. Cheers!
Look great. Always like it when family come tgether with good foods , soft drinks for kids and beer for adults..
We just had a beer festival and I shared some pics on my blog, feel free to see them..Love beers.
