To my knowledge Yuengling does not distribute to Michigan. So anytime I have a friend in an area that has it I have to have them pick me up a 24 pack. Being that it was just the holidays I knew one of my coworkers was heading to Pennsylvania where it is sold. He was kind enough to pick me up a case.
Yuengling Traditional Lager pours a deep resist amber colored with a small densely packed white head that has medium retention. There is some lacing left on the sides of the glass, but it’s nothing crazy. The color is deeper than most other traditional lagers I’ve had.
The aroma is mostly of toasted malt, fresh baked bread and there are some slight caramel notes. You also get a bit of spiciness and a slight amount hops. The aroma is more complex than a Budweiser or Miller, but still sticks to the traditional lager profile.
The flavor follows similarly with loads of delicious toasty malt and some mild caramel. I pick up a is a hint of malt sweetness that is perfectly balanced by the hoppy bitterness. It’s a solid lager that is not too sweet or bitter which gives it a crispness that would be great on a hot day.
The carbonation is moderate. Its less than the macro mass produced beers which gives the body medium to light feel. It’s still refreshing, but it’s definitely heavier than other lagers.
Overall is a pretty solid beer. With solid characteristics of a lager, but with more body and flavor How can you go wrong?
Not to mention is amount a $1 a beer so it’s way in the wallet.
Cheers,

My dad used to drink Yuengling. The first one is not bad, but by the time I finish a second one I remember that I don't care for it. The Black and Tan and Porter are both tasty, though.
Kinda the the nostalgia helps get the first one down. I’ve never had more than one in a sitting.

I love Yuengling. I pick up a case or two whenever I visit my in-laws in Ohio. There is a reason it is the oldest brewery in the US and still going strong! Occasionally I pick up a 12 pack of the light or their black and tan which is really good. I have heard they make an Oktoberfest too, but I have never gotten my hands on a pack of it.
I did not know they made anything other than the traditional lager. This intrigues me.

Oh yeah, they have a light, they also have a Porter and the Black and Tan. Actually, looking at their site now they have several that I haven't ever seen too. I am heading out of state pretty soon, so I will have to keep my eye out.
Good call you’ll have to report back if you picking anything else up.

As lagers go, it is a great option for such an old and storied brewery. If someone was to come over with a really simple pallet and I wanted a beer I would drink if there were leftovers, this might be the one.
Why on earth is it not distributed in Michigan?

No idea why they don’t distribute here??

Did we have totally different beers or totally different batches. Or maybe they have changed something in their beer? I remember having that one about a year ago and I cannot say it was good at all. hehe

Cheers, man!
It’s better than most of the macro lagers. Also it’s a lager they are pretty meh most of the time.

Last state they added to distribution list was Kentucky. Which lucky for me is my home state. The price has went up crazy in the last 6 years. I used to bootleg it from Virginia. It’s one of my mass favs
That sucks the price went up...Do you remember what it use to be?

Back around 2010-2013 it was like 17.99 a briefcase. Now it’s like 23.99
