This is my story for #BeerSaturday by @detlev.
My sister was here for a visit the other weekend and on this day we did a nice walk through Wuerzburg and all the way up to the castle Festung Marienberg. The view from there is amazing so it's always worth the effort!
It was a hot summer day. That's why I was happy in advance about the pretty bier garden on top of the hill right next to the castle. It was a great motivator for the last steep steps ...
Too much alcohol on a hot day like this might be not the perfect choice and we still had to go back all the way down without being hurt. So a "Radler" was probably the better choice than "pure" beer. "Radler" is a popular summer drink mixed half of beer and half of lemonade. That's the reason our "beers" look kind of thin ...
Have a nice Saturday
I love that castle!!The view is definately worth every step! Haha! Smart girls with lemonaid mix.
Awesome pictures!!I miss Germany! Post more pictures!! 😊

That's one heck of a fortification! I'd love to walk the walls as a student of physical security. Sure, our homes are not literal castles, but they can benefit from some of the security concepts used by them.
Thanks for sharing these pictures and your story to go along with them!
I'll have to try the Radler drink idea. Do they use any particular type of beer, or does it work well with any type?
Usually they take the Pilsener Beer to mix it with lemonade for a radler. I think this is because Pilsener itself has a more or less bitter taste so the whole thing won't get too sweet. Make sure you take lemonade with very natural ingredients or you get a weird artificial taste. In northwest Germany they call the same thing Alsterwasser (like the water of the Hamburg river Alster). If you are in Bavaria you can order a Russ (a Russion). Then it is made of Hefeweizen (Weißbier) and Lemonade.
Oohhhhh such gorgeous views.... Charming castle!
😎 Thank you!
You're most welcome! Cheers!! :D
Oh! What beautiful views! Great photos! I've been to Frankfort and love your part of Germany. Following you.
