Regular readers will know I favour a British beer, but we had a few bottles of French lager left over from a party. The bottle looks a little scuffed as it was in an ice bucket for a while. This is a budget beer from Lidl and so I don't expect too much from it.
I had this with an omlette last night. This used eggs from our chickens and courgettes (aka zuchini) from the garden, so it was mostly home grown. The beer was refreshing enough when served good and cold. It's only a small one, but you don't always need a lot. I had a couple more of these at the battle prom last weekend. You can see it has a good head on it.
Here's our little plot where the courgette was grown.
Tonight's dinner is home made curry and I'll probably be back on British beer for that. It's just what I prefer.

Nice garden! Looks like you have a lot of good stuff growing there despite the heatwave! The beer and food look tasty too!
You're so self-sufficient, Steve.
Courgettes and eggs, wow!
Next step, brew your own beer. Can't get much more British than that! :)
There's just not enough time to do everything and I like a variety of beers. It's just easier to buy them
Looks like life is good. All that looks great to me. The perfect balance in life. I can't say I have ever had a French beer.
Can get some cracking beer in Lidl - I love their Pilsner but I forget the name. 89p for a large bottle is pretty good value! Our local store has a good selection of ales at a decent price. Whitstable Pale Ale is a favourite of mine and they seem to have an abundance of that. They've recently had a selection of IPAs in in tins - 4 for a £1! I love Camden IPA and that's £5 for 4...the one I tried was every bit as good.
God I sound like an alcoholic!
I don't generally shop there. Maybe I should
I've only recently been going in as we're trying to save a few £s here and there. I've been pleasantly surprised. Their fresh bread and veggies are fantastic.
Bet it was a good price too!!!! Looks nice!
One day is one day, then I'll come across someone testing WARM beer. Isn't that the ultimate taste test? :) Because every beer tastes great when cold, on a hot day.
Looks good... The Germans are still kings though... Their beers are incomparable

Ooh, that's fighting talk! Mind you German beer tends to be very different to what we brew here.
I like the cheap french beer you get in packs of 12 barely held together with cardboard. They are small and maybe that's why I like them. No bad effects to me is good.
I don't drink Stella or Becks, but do drink these things, cheap as they are.
Well I'm having a bottle of Ringwood Boondoggle tonight and it's going down well.
I bet your vegetable plot has done very well with the tropical weather we have had for the last few months. You can get some really good value products at Lidl, and often it's really hard to tell the difference to compared to a more expensive branded product. Definitely a good head and your omelette looks delicious.
