Beer of the Day is back - Christmas Beer from Bavaria
Beer posts on a daily basis was my plan when I started on Steemit, however this was not realistic as you might have seen, my Beer of the Day series stopped at #28 -even I posted still about the lovely drink not only around Oktoberfest - before we start the new year here a new Beer post introducing you Christmas Beer from Bavaria, also submission for Beer Saturday by the awesome @detlev.
In Germany and especially Bavaria, dedicated winter or christmas beers are common, most of them brewed as dark beer with higher original wort and alcohol content, famous types are Bock, Doppelbock and Eisbock. Personally I like the Bock beers but in general there is no dominating taste or type but a good variety - some light Christmas Beers can also be chosen.
Hirschbräu / Höss Brewery
One of my past favourites has been brewed by "the Höss private brewery" aka "Hirschbräu" from Sonthofen. The brewery is producing great beer sind over 350 years. They used to brew a Christmas Beer with the great name of one of the most famous castles in Europe, the one that even inspired Walt Disney. The Neuschwansteiner Weihnachts-Bier is a strong export beer, amber-coloured and has an alcohol content of 5.3 percent.

Sounds pretty good Uwe! I remember "Christmas Brew" was always a big deal with the adults when I was a kid in Denmark... almost always a very dark-- almost stout-- beer, often designed as an accompaniment to the very "heavy" holiday foods like roast goose.
Holiday beers in the USA seem a little different... more about odd "flavor additives" than anything. "Pumpkin beer," anyone?
Thanks mate - yeah I realized a lot of adding flavour initiatives over there in the US - the Home of the Sweets. When did you move to the US btw?
