You get your weekly Beer Blog a couple days earlier because I have to hit the road for the weekend. This edition holds the final chapter of a recent story and a bonus one from the wayback machine.

It is pretty much normal, beer-wise, in my neck of the woods with the semi-lock-down. Liquor stores and breweries have never had to shut down and are accessible in varying degrees through line-ups, limited people in the building, online ordering and free local delivery. Some breweries are innovating admirably in these challenging times. I am also getting a little creative with my beer and innovating a 25-year old beer cocktail.
Strap on your drinkin' socks and let's do this!

A couple weeks ago, I noticed a very bold marketing campaign from a relatively unknown brewing team. They offered 24 tall cans of their flagship kickass IPA for a fraction of the price, with free delivery to a province larger than the size of Texas. I took advantage of the offer but experienced delays which lead to wonderful customer service, a slight change of beer actually delivered, and a couple nice Cameron's Brewing https://cameronsbrewing.com/ Glasses. You can catch up here https://hive.blog/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/beersaturday-breweries-seizing-the-moment

They are at it again. Here we have not only the same awesome promotion, but an additional promotion for a case of their session IPA, free delivery, under 100$ If I wasn't still working on the first case, I would jump on this one as well.

As a follow up to the original post, I thanked the accounting lady for being so responsive and connecting me with the full case of Jurassic IPA. She responded immediately and created a special order to send me the Skeleton Brewing Company https://skeletonbrewcrew.com/ glassware to match the brew. So, I went out and purchased myself some Knuckebone IPA to do it Beerologist style.

This IPA seems to look and taste even better when in this cool pint glass. The thick bottom helps ensure your hand doesn't unnecessarily warm the beer, the thin lower part almost changes the colour of the beer, the round thicker section shows the darker malt, and the tapered rim almost amplifies the bouquet.
"Perfect evening for a pint" is the message I sent to them with this image. Definitely looks great in that glass.

FREER!

Here is your wayback machine story.
Back in the day, we used to gather once a year or so, bring our computers to play LAN games all weekend, and drink WAY too much beer for what we call LANfest. In our drunken stupidity, we found out that when you poured standard 355ml bottle into a 500ml pint glass, there was room left at the top. Subsequently, when you top the rest of your Honey Brown Ale up with a splash of Berry Punch, it was actually not bad! Same amount of beer, a little fruitier, and a full pint. Fruit + Beer = FREER!
This week, I found myself using my new LANfest skull mug and noticing that there was some room at the top (seeing as it is approx 650 ml.) It just so happened the little ones had a pitcher of 1/2 berry punch and 1/2 Grape punch in the fridge. So, I present to you, FREER 2.0. IPA instead of honey brown, and some grape punch mixed in because that is what was in the fridge.
Not bad!

I have finally broken down and bagged up my huge COVID collection of empties from the months where the beer store would not take empties because of the lockdown. It turned out to be an even 100. Hey! It takes a lot of beer to fuel a homes school teacher!

I am honoured to curate for:
