RE: Are We Letting Social Media Change Us?

in #behavior7 years ago

I think your observations are spot on. My question is if this behavior is only online?

There is no doubt that rudeness and lack of consideration is commonplace in our world today. People lack even the most basics of social interaction. Please and Thank You are ideas that our grandparents held. It is a "dog eat dog" world, an approach most seem to believe in.

Online just makes it so much easier for people to misbehave. Cyber muscles are legendary. Take the most introverted person and hide him/her behind the anonymity of the net with a keyboard, suddenly you have a lion ready to chew up all in its path.

I do subscribe to the higher seas lift all boats. Each of us should do what we can to make sure our behavior is helping those who follow behind. I do not know of the downvoting which you mention, but vendettas and retaliation campaigns never serve anyone well. Are we that tied to our online persona that we will defend it no matter what the cost?

For many, it appears so.

Thank you for bringing this topic up.
