Most beautiful cities in Belgium

in #belgium7 years ago

Getting to know a whole country requires many trips, so obviously there are cities that we haven't visited and that we hope to get to know over time.

These are the cases, for example, of Liège, Mechelen and Charleroi.

Brussels Grand Place in Belgium

But we have been fortunate enough to visit the most outstanding cities, particularly in the Flanders region, and now we can tell you what is essential to see in Belgium's most beautiful cities.

A first piece of advice we give you when you travel to Belgium is to know the real name of the cities.

The motive? because at the time of seeing the posters you can still be confused since these names change quite a bit with the Spanish translation.

In the list we leave you the real names that you will find in the indications that you will find for the city.

Brussels Grand Place in Belgium

Brussels (Bruxelles)
Brussels is the capital of Belgium and the largest and most modern city of all.

Here we find some of the most iconic and emblematic spots in the country, such as the Grand Place, the Atomium, or the small sculpture known as Mannaken Pis.

It is the most cosmopolitan city in the country, and in which you can find everything you can imagine, from a Gothic cathedral, to modern shopping malls and squares and streets full of busy terraces.

It is also the city of art noveau architecture, the great spring flower exhibitions, comic books, museums such as Fine Arts, where very interesting exhibitions are held throughout the year.

Bruges in Belgium

Bruges (Brugge)
Without a doubt, Bruges is one of the most charming cities you can visit in Europe.

It's one of the best examples of a medieval city taken from a fairytale of princes and princesses, and its streets full of canals make you feel like you're inside a movie set of epoch.

We can never forget on our first visit the stamp of a suspense story that was created by the fog, which is quite common there, the stone walls and the yellow light lamps of another time.

A real fairytale scene that is usually quite common if you visit Bruges in winter.

Ghent (Gent)
Ghent was the first city in Belgium I had the opportunity to visit.

I didn't know much about her and maybe that's why I was surprised to meet her.

You walk through its streets and stunning churches keep showing up to each one more eye-catching.

I had to come back after a while, but to be able to enjoy it fully, I already visited it in a tour with a guide in English because on the first occasion we were left with the feeling that we left many things to see.

Wow! I love the buildings and house structure! I have to go there! :)

I lived in Gent/Ghent/Gand for a few months. It is in the Flemish region of Belgium. First of all, Gent is a nice city. Other than streets of bar, it is clean. Also it is a city of students. Transportation is very efficient. The city center is not big. You can wander around it and spend a nice time it is a safe city. Of course its weather is rainy. I liked the Fine Arts Museum. I also enjoyed many inexpensive but high quality places where you can eat and drink. I must also mention about Gent University. It is ranked among the first 100 universities worldwide. Many more...please let me know if you want to learn more about Gent and Belgium
