Reality Check: Will 'Anti Sex Trafficking' Bill Hurt Victims?

in #benswann7 years ago

There's a effort among politicians and celebrities to amend #CDA230 to help sex trafficking victims through legislation, H.B. 1865. But does this new bill actually help stop sex trafficking, or hurt victims? This is a Reality Check you won't get anywhere else.

thank you so much for this. as an adult industry worker who works online this affects me HARD so i appreciate you explaining this very thouroughly. people think they're helping but they're hurting us <3 upvotes and resteemed

Thank you so much for covering this. The adult sex trafficking industry is a never ending nightmare. The problem is the people in charge don't want it to end because they profit from it and take part in it.

I would love to get you on my show for an interview some day.

Cheers.

Great video, Ben. So happy to have you back at your reporting and with us here on Steemit. Upvoted and subscribed. On another note, a deep thank you for your previous reporting on the pedophilia crisis. Your brave uncovering of many of those details remains unprecedented in mainstream news. <3

i hope there is no trafficking anymore :(

You did a fantastic job stating some ways the law could be abused. This is a re-occurring pattern so I'm not surprised. So important we all look for this, thanks for reporting on this.

wow useful information @benswann

your post is good, i will follow you now @benswann

Excellent job as usual, I always assumed any bill hindering sex trafficking was a good thing, but once again our politicians are making decisions without talking to people who are in the know or making decisions with their hearts and not their heads.

Considering that:

  1. sex trafficking statistics are grossly exaggerated,
  2. many more people are trafficked for cheap labor than for sex, and
  3. most victims of sex trafficking are adults not minors,
the popular fixation on sex trafficking is pure hysteria. Why doesn't the government focus on the massive corruption between government and big business, not to mention corruption within the government? The crusade against sex trafficking is a smokescreen.
