Nice article. However, did you know that recent theories about dog domestication postulate that human's didn't domesticate dogs, but that dogs domesticated themselves. The theory is that the ancestors of dogs (wolves) would hang around human settlements because the rubbish they would throw away would provide an easier meal. Only the those individuals who were more friendly towards humans would succeed in this way and over time, these dogs bred with each other and created dog breeds that ultimately worked closely with people.
