Introduction
Dlive is a decentralized live streaming platform based on the Steem blockchain. It's somewhat simmilar to Twitch but much better as it offers a more equal and fair reward distribution than you would get on any other live streaming platform. Because it doesn't matter if you are an established Steemian with 10 000 followers or you just started, the rewards will be very simmilar, leveling out the playing field between minnows and whales. Which is IMO one of the best things they could have done as it gives a equal chance to everyone, not favoring the "big players" and giving minnows a chance to earn profits, based on their efforts.
Dlive has more than 2 million delegated Steem Power which gives them a huge influence and the ability to reward contributors with a big upvote. Giving everyone at least one vote per day, Dlive is doing a great job at supporting it's users and motivating them to make more content, self-improve and build a community.
Not only is Dlive awesome at rewarding their users, but it's great as they want our feedback and opinions on how to improve and what to add to the platform. That is crucial for organic growth of the platform, because it shows to it's users that our opinions matters and that Dlive is willing to listen to our suggestions, which is amazing.
This post is a part of Dlive's new campaign where they are searching for input from it's users and the main questions that will be answered in this post are:
- What do you think about Dlive?
- How can Dlive improve?
- How do you decide if a stream is good or not?
- Why you started streaming on Dlive , what are you streaming and how are you planning to improve your stream in the future?
#1 What do I think about Dlive ?
I think it's simply amazing, it's fast, efficient, and looks great and as I already said, the thing I like the most about Dlive is that it offers a fair reward distribution. Rewarding each good live stream based on the quality of the stream, excluding unimportant factors like number of followers and amount of Steem Power a user has. Leveling out the playing field for everyone. Unlike twitch and other live streaming platforms where you need to be an established streamer with a lot of viewers to get anything, which can be terribly difficult to achieve in the sea of professional streamers. On Dlive every good quality stream gets rewarded and that is IMO, simply incredible. That gives a great motivation for users to participate and start building a community on their streams.
#2 How can Dlive improve?
- Make an accurate viewer count
- Fix dissapearing streams issue
- Add the ability to upvote comments straight from the stream because going back and forth from Steemit to Dlive is a waste of time, especially when gaming
- Add a trending section
- Add a graphic design marketplace where users could buy/order personalized graphics (thumbnails and overlays) for their streams and pay in STEEM/SBD
- Add art and weekly stars category
- Add a simmilar system to what @utopian-io has where users could delegate Steem Power to get a portion of all rewards paid out on Dlive
- Improving post editing because the current one is pretty inconvenient to use
#3 How do you decide a stream is good or not?
One of the first things that comes to my attention is obviously the first impression I get by seeing the thumbnail. Obviously if the thumbnail looks good, unique or funny it will catch my attention and I'll open the stream.
Next is the actual game being streamed (I like to watch FPS and MMORPGs mostly) but I'll watch anything else if the person streaming is engaging or funny which brings me to the most important part of deciding whether or not a stream is good is how the streamer engages with its viewers. If he/she is funny and talks a lot, they got a much bigger chance of holding my attention for longer than 10 minutes as I really appreciate streamers that engage with their watchers and think that is the most important part of deciding if a stream is good or not.
That's why I would like to encourage everyone streaming to engage, talk to your viewers, ask your viewers questions, make them engage with you, and reward them for doing so.
#4 Why you started streaming on DLive, what are you streaming and how are you planning to improve your stream in the future?
I started out of a pure curiosity and stayed because it's incredibly fun and rewarding to stream and build a community while having fun and playing games. I wanted to see how the platform works and if there will be anyone interested in watching me play. I was quickly hooked after realizing the potential the platform has and that people actually like watching me play, so I decided to do everything I can to improve my streams, engagement and the overal experience for the people watching my streams.
First I realized that I need to reward my users for watching so I started upvoting each and every user watching my stream that leaves me a nice comment on my stream and I will continue doing so indefinetely.
Then, because I wanted to offer my viewers a seemles experience, without any laggs, I bought a dedicated laptop for streaming with 16 gigs of ram and an i7 processor, that should be able to stream even the most advanced games out there.
In the future I'm planing on buying a professional microphone and a better camera and I'm also going to start organizing contests and giveaways for my viewers and do whatever I can to engage with them more and make their experience more enjoyable.
I would also like to use the money earned from Dlive's upvotes to further promote it outside of Steemit by making a dedicated facebook page and buying add space to bring more people joining Dlive and Steemit.
The games I'm currently playing are mostly Hearthstone and League of Legends, but I'm planning to buy games like PubG, Fortnite, GTA and any other game that would be interesting for my viewers, so if you got any suggestions, please leave a comment below and join my future streams and grab the rewards!
Wow, I might just leave twitch for Dlive in this case.
you most definetely should. At least you get a fair reward for posting on dlive.
